To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JosrAH J. GREGORY, Jr., a citizen ofthe United States of America, residing at Punxsutawney, in the county of Jefferson and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Stove-Shields, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to shields or screens for stoves and is designed more particularly for use in school rooms to protect children who crowd about the stove, and one of the principal objects of the same is to provide a shield or screen of a number of curved zinc sheets spaced apart and supported upon suitable, legs so that the heat from the stove cannot readily be communicated in full force to the outer layer of the Zinc.
The object referred to may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure l is a side elevation of a shield made in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the same. Fig. 3 is a transverse section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawing for a more specifre description of my invention, the numeral l designates the outer member of the shield and consists of a curved Zinc sheet to which suitable legs 2 are secured, said legs designed to support the entire shield at a slight distance from the floor. The second member 3 of the shield is also formed from a piece of sheet zinc and is curved and spaced apart from the member l by means of suitable brackets 4 and bolts 5, said bolts passing through thimbles 6 which serve to space the two members apart. The member 3 does not extend up to the top of the member 1. The member 7 is also formed of zinc and curved and is spaced from the member 3 by similar brackets 8 and bolts 9, said member 7 terminating at its lower end at a point about central to the member 3. The member 10 extends below the lower end of the member 7 and is provided with a bottom 14 which extends from the member 10 to the member 3. A top or cover l5 is secured to the upper edge of the member l and extends to the member 7, as shown more particularly in Fig. il..
A shield made in accordance with my invention will fully protect children sitting nearest the stove during lessons, while at the same time the heat from the stove is dissemi nated in the room and properly regulated.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is
A stove screen comprising concentrically curved relatively spaced members, including an outer member, an inner member and a plurality of intermediate members arranged between the outer and inner member, the outermost of said intermediate members terminating at the bottom on a plane with the bottom of the outer member and at the upper edge on a plane below the upper edge of the outer member, the inner member projecting above the outer member and terminating at the lower edge above the lower edge of the outer member, the innermost intermediate member terminating at the lower edge above the lower edge of the inner member and at the upper edge above the upper edge of the outer member, a top connecting the upper edge of the outer member with the innermost intermediate member and serving to close the space between said members above the outermost intermediate member, and a bottom connecting the lower edge of the inner member with the outermost intermediate member to close the space between said members below the lower edge of the innermost intermediate member.
