PATENTBD SEPT. s, 1908.

WASHTUB.
APPLICATION FILED snr'laze, 1906.
INVENTOR if Q r Z 7 I Attorney I WgTNESESI UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM LUTHER.BOGLE, OF BENTOAK, MISSISSIPPI, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO W. C.
MCOLURE AND ONE-HALF TO JAMES THOMAS HARRISON, OF COLUMBUS, MISSISSIPPI.
WASHTUB Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 8, 1908.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM LUTHER BOGLE, a resident of Bentoak, in the county of Lowndes and State of Mississippi, have invented certain new and useful Improvements. in Washtubs; and I do hereby declare the I following to be a full, clear, and exact demetal wash boards located at inclined por tions of the tub walls to facilitate the washing of goods, said tub being manufactured at comparatively small cost and strong and durable in use. I
A further object is to provide a wash tub having inclined ends and made with wash boards at one or both of said inclined ends.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective 'view illustrating .my improvements. section thereof. Fig. 3 is a view illustrating a blank from which the tub can be formed.
1 represents the tub proper, the form of tub shown in Fig. 1 being made from a blank such as illustrated in Fig. 3, or if de sired, the tub may be stamped or drawn from a single plate without seams. The blank, shown in Fig. 3, comprises a central body portion, which constitutes the tub bottom when the blank is folded, and from this body ortion, end wings 4 and side wings 5 project.
he side wings 5 having inclined or ta erin ends, so that when the ends 4 are olde thereagainst and secured by seaming or otherwise, the ends will be, disposed at an angle or incline. Wash boards, composed of corrugated metal plates, and illustrated at 6,
v are secured to the ends by'rivets 7 The upvform of handles 8 to facilitate the movin Fig. 2 is aview in longitudinal and havin per ends of the wash boards 6 are bent over the edges of the tub ends and bent into thef o the tub. Fixed wash boards are there ore provided at the ends of the tub and located in just the proper position or incline to permit the best of work and by providing wash boards at both ends of the tub, two persons may work at the same tub at the same time. The tub-is also a very desirable shape when used for bathing purposes as such tubs are often 'used in rural districts. The wash boards may be variously corrugated and shaped according to the work to be done and for convenience the wash board at one end of the tub may be'made with smaller corrugations than the other and various other modifications may be made in the wash boards to best erform the work intended.-
' I 0 not restrict myself to any particular shapeof tub, nor to the manner of making the same, nor to the form of wash board or manner of securing the same, but consider.
and scope of my invention as defined by the appended claims.
Having fully described my invention, what -I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is
1. Awash tub composed ofsheet metal an inclined wall, said inclined wall provi ed with awashboard permanently riveted thereto, and having a portion extending beyond the tub and forming ahandle 2. A wash tub comprising a metal body having inclined ends, a corrugated metal wash board permanently fixed to each inclined end of the metal body, and the upper ends of said wash boards having portions bent forming handles for the tub.
' In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM LUTHER BOGLE.
