tion of the same, reference being had to the aceompanying drawings, making a part of this specitication, in which- Figure l is a top view of my quilting-frame. Fig. 2 is a side view of same. Figs. 3 and 4 f are detached views of same.

The nature of my invention consists in providing a quilting-frame whereby the material to`be quilted can be readily and quickly placed in the frame without the tedious process of stitching to the frame; also, from its peculiar construction I am enabled to take it apart and store or transport it without occupying much room.

To enable others skilled inthe art to make and use my invention, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation.

A and B, Figs. l and 2, are strips of wood of any suitable material or dimensions, passing through and through and coming up above the upper face ot B, and at equal distance apart are a series ot' metallic pins, with corresponding openingsinadein thelower face of A to receive them. Strips A rest on B, and are held together by metallic clamps C, fastened on the lower side of B. Passing through parts A and B near their ends are circular openings, provided wit-hpins for regulating the width or length of the material to be quilted. Strips D and E, Figs. 1, 3, and 4, are made similar to strips A and B, with the exception that they are separated in the center and part D provided with hinges for folding. Parts D and E are held together by means of metallic clamps 0,'the same as those for holding parts A and B, and are fastened on theunder part of E. On the under side of parts E are placed metallic hooks and eyes, t'or the purpose of keeping parts D and E extended.

Openings are also made -through the ends of D and E similar to those in the ends ofA and B and for the same purpose.

When desired, parts A andB can be made similar to parts D and E, as far as regards the making in two parts and providing them with hinges and hooks and eyes.

ln setting up or operating the frame parts B and E are first placed in position and the material to be quilted fastened over and on the metallic pins. Parts A and D are then placed on B and E, and the metallic clamps (l pressed over to hold them together. Thematerial is then tightened up by pressing. the sides and ends in opposite directions and inserting the pins in the openings. This operation requires but a few moments, when it has taken hours to set up the present style of frames now in use, with the disadvantage, also, of the space occupied when not in use.

Having thus described my invention, its construction and operation,what I claim, and desire to secure lby Letters Patent, is-

The arrangement of the strips A, B, D,and E, provided with a'series of pins and corresponding openings, and held together by means ot' the clamps C, substantially in the manner and for the purpose specified.
