PLATE LIFTER.
APPLICATION FILED AUG. 26, 1907.
Guyana 5 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
OSCAR E. PLEMON, OF PORTLAND, OREGON, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO L. P. HORRESCHOW,
OF PORTLAND, OREGON.
PLATE-LIFTER.
I Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 14, 1908.
Application filed August 26, 1907. Serial No. 390,227.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OSCAR E. PLEMoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Portland, in the county of Multnomah,'State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plate-Lifters; and I do hereby declare the following to be afull, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it a pertains to make and use the same.
his invention relates to new and useful improvements in plate lifters, and more particularly to a device of this class embodying cooperating spring arms and including an element for adjusting these arms laterally with res ect to one another.
The 0 ject of the invention is to rovide a novel construction, combination an arrangement of parts, the details of which will appear in the course of the following description, in which reference is had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, like characters of reference designating similar parts throughout the several views, wherein:
Figure 1 is a plan view of a plate lifter constructed in accordance with thepresent invention. Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a detailed fragmentary side elevation thereof.
Referring specifically to the accompanylng drawings, the improved plate lifter is shown as constituted of an integral section of wire bent upon itself toform a bow-shaped connecting portion 1, from which pro'ect resllient arms 2, thenormal tendency of which is to spring outwardly. The connecting por-' tion 1 merges with the arms 2, and forms substantial de ressions 3 at the rear ends of said arm, whic augment the resiliency thereof. The arms 2 at their front ends are extended and curvingly as at 5, to engage the plate. A metallic clip 6 serving as a handle, has its edge bent as at 7 about .the portion 1. The clip 6 likewise serves to prevent spreading of the sides of this bowed portion. An adjusting slide 8 in the form of metallic clip or sleeve is engaged about the arms 2. Movement of the slide 8 forwardly will draw said arms together, and movement of the. same downwardly as at 4, and then horizontally rearwardly will permit them-to spread apart.
It will be understood that the arms 2 spring a art from the depressions 3.
The plate lifter com rehended in the present invention is simp -e in its structura tails, inexpensive to manufacture and practical and eflicient in use.
From the foregoing description it will be.
seen that simple and efficient means are'provided for accomplishing the objects of the invention.
What is claimed is:
A plate lifter compfrising a section of wire bent upon itself to a 0rd a bow-shaped connecting portion and including parallel forwardly projecting arms, tion merging with sai arms and forming depressions, said arms being extended downwardly at their front ends and then outwardly and curvingly, a clip having its sides bent upon the sides of said connecting portion to confine the same against spreading and a.
cli or sleeve surrounding sald arms for slidab e movement as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature, in presence of two witnesses. V OSCAR E. PLEMON. Witnesses CHRISTIAN LARsoN, O. S. ZERKLE.
