Be it lmown that I, GE'ORGE Ynomms, of Romulus, in the countyof Wayne, and State of Michigan, have invented a new and -useful Improvement in Fann- Gates; and I do declare that the following is a true and -accurate description thereof, reference being Y had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, and' being a part of this specification. Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention when closed.
VFigure 2 is an outline view of thesaine when open. The object of this invention is so to construct a gate that it will open automatically.- l o I t consists of two perpendicular posts lA, between which is suspendedand pivoted, at B, a gate, C, which is constructed, in the ordinary manner, of horizontal and' verticalbars.
Upon, one of the posts A, and nearits top, is pivoted .the lever` D, provided with a counterbalanceweight, E, at one end, while the other is attached near the bottom' and centre of the gate, by meansof the connecting-rod N.
-G isa single post, set at a proper distance from and joints, while the others are pivoted at the points of intersection between the horizontal and vertical bars.
.What I claim as my invention, and desire to secur by Letters Patent, is v The lever D, attached as'descm'bed, and provided with counterbalance-weight E, in connection with connecting-rod F, gate O, and posts A, when constructed and 'operating substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.-
