GEORGE A. BEIDLER, OF OKLAHOMA, OKLAHOMA TERRITORY.
COLLAR-PIN AND NECKTlE-FASTENER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 25, 1907.
Application filed December 22,1906. Serial No. 349,078
To aZZ whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE A. BEIDLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oklahoma city, in the county of Oklahoma and Territory of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collar- Pins and N ecktie-Fasteners, of which the fol lowing is a specification.
My invention consists of a novel collar pin and neck tie hook or lug combined, in which a pointed pin is provided with a head of the same or different metal, and a short distance from the rear of the head the stem of the pin is bent at a right angle or slightly more; the pin being vertical with the point upward when in use, and the upward portion of the pin head having projecting therefrom an outwardly and downwardly projecting hook or neck tie fastener.
The objects of my invention are first, to provide a collar pin by the use of which the collar and the shirt band on both sides of the neck shall be kept together in the proper position; sec ind, to provide a colla pin which shall at the same time hold the neck tie down to its properposition on each side of the neck; third, to provide a simple and convenient means by which annoyances incident to collar wearing may be overcome.
I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompan ing drawing, forming apart of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective View of a collar, shirt band and neck tie secured in position by one of my pins for that pur ose; Fig. 2 is a transverse section on line as *ig. l;-Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the pin removed; Fig. 4 is a front view of the same; Fig. 5 is a sectional view of the pin in which the pin and its head are in two parts or of different metals; Fig. 6 is a rear View of Fig. 4.
Similar letters refer to similar parts in the several views.
Referring to the drawings, a is the collar, 1) is the shirt and b is the neck band; 0 is the pin portion with c as its head and c as its neck tie hook, (if being the neck tie. In constructing the pin the stem portion 0, the head portion a and the hook 0 may be made or stamped out from a single piece of-metal as shown in Fig. 3 or it may be made or stamped out from two pieces of metal as shown in Fig. 5, which may be like or unlike.
The pin member 0 is bent slightly beyond a right angle and its taper or bevel is, preferably, upon its rear and sides.
In operation, the collar is first placed about the neck and buttoned ordinarilyv to the neck band, then the point of the collar pin is inserted inwardly and upward through the lower portion of the collar and the neckband of the shirt, on each side of the neck, in a manner that the pin stem 0 shall be vertical,
and with the point resting against the inner surface of the collar on each side of the neck; the neck band I) of the shirt I) is thus secured in its proper position and the collar is prevented from working upward and rising above the neck-band on each side of the neck as is usually the, case; and when the neck tie is adjusted by placing its upper edge under the hook c it is secured in its proper position and held in place, and thus much annoyance is prevented.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new-and useful and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is,
1. A collar and neck tie fastener comprising a head and shank, said shank being bent intermediate its length to form an acute angle, and a hook projecting from the head.
2. A collar and neck tie fastener comprising ahead and a shank said shank being bent intermediate its length to form an acute angle and a hook projecting from the head, said hook lying in the lane of the bent shank.
In testimony wl iereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE A. BEIDLER.
Witnesses:
TOM W. COATES, MAOGREGOR DOUGLAS.
