Be it kno'u'n that l., Cir-mins E. linnn, Jr., a citizen ot the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county Illinois, have invented in'ovement iii a new and useful Inilleelrir parkiug Plugs, of which the following is a spii'il'ication.

'ith the ring 14-in place the bearing 19 is in position to 'receive the lower electrode 2() and support it in vertical alinement `with the upper electrode to cause the tip 13 to coincide, at the center of the ring, with the tip 2l in which the electrcide 2() terminates. The electrode 20, in the form of a screw, is adapt- 'ed to be readily adjusted by turning it in its bearing on separating the plug fromr the head for regulating the space between the tips according t-o the requirement of the particular coil with which the sparking-plug is einployed.
A port 22 leads obliquely from the upper end of the sparking-'chamber 8 into a housing 23 formed with an enlargement 24 in its upper portion into which is screwed an annular plug 25 forming an inlet 26 and confining against a spiral spring 2S in the housing a ball-valve 27 which normally maintains closed the inlet 26.
The electrical connection of the sparkingelectrodes with a generator and a Contact making and breaking device included in the connection, are conventionally represented in Fig. 1.

and 3. In the modification the ring, shown at 142 and containing a c-,ircumlerential trough 14 like that in the ring 1-1, is integral with-the wall of the neck 5 and thi` tip 13 of the wire 1() coincides with the center of the ring.
The lower electrode 201, with its tip 2P,A is substantially like the electrode 20, but
screws into and is adjustable in a bearing 19 in the wall of the neck, below the external screw-thread thereon, where the lscrew is countersuiik into the wall, as represented, to prevent it from obstructing the insertion of the neck into the head 6. The electrode 20 thus occupies a horizontal position and alines at its inner end with the vertical electrode 10.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a sparking-plug, the combination ol a body having a tubular neck forming the sparking-chamber, an upper electrode proiecting centrally into said chamber, a ring forming the open base of said chamber, a, bearing supported on said ring to aline vertically with said upper electrode, and a lower electrode supported in said bearing.
2. In a sparking-plug, the combination ol a body having a tubular neck forming the sparking-chambei', an upper electrode projecting into said chamber, a. ring forming the open base of said chamber and having a depending segment provided with an opening,
- housing a head confined in the opening, the ring, seg ment and head being threaded and screwed into said neck to forni the open. base thereof', a neck extending from said head and terminating in a bearingr near the center of said ring, and a lower electrode supported in said bearing in vertical alineinent with the upper electrode.
4. In a sparking-plug, the combination oi" a body having a tubular neck forming the sparking-chamber, an upper electrode projecting into said chamber, an annular sup port for a lower' electrode forming the open base of said chamber, a lower electrode on. said support in vertical alinement witlrsaid upper electrode, and a valved port in the body lea'diiig t-o said chamber.
5. In a sparking-plug, the combination of a body havingI a tubular neck forming the sparking-chaiiiber, 'an upper electrode projecting into said chamber, a ring forming the open base. of said chamber and having a trough in its upper side, a lower electrode supported in said neck, and a valved port in the body leading to said chamber.
6. In a sparking-plug, the combination of a body having a tubular neck forming the sparking-chamber, an upper electrode projecting into said chamber, a valve-housing in the body having an opening, a springpressed valve iii the housing controlling said opening therein, a port leading from said into the sparking-chamber, a ring forming the open base of said chamber, and a lower electrode supported in said neck.
