To all whom it may conccrn:

- Be it known that I,SYLvii-: ATTANASIO, a citizen of the United States, and a'resident of the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Shaving-Cup, ofwhich the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

My invention has for its object to provide a shaving cup capable of being readily and thoroughly cleansed, and means for isolating the soap om the water, thus preventing the soap from becoming inire nated .with the water used in a revious shaving also to provide means for holding the soap firmly in position in the cup. Such objects I accomplish by the device shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a vertical central section of a device embodying my invention; and F 1g. 2

is a plan view of the same.

As illustrated in the-drawings, 1 represents I the c lindrical body of a cup which, with a handfe 2, may be of ordinary construction. The bottom of the cup is formed integral with. the body, andis provided with an annular flange 3 spaced from the inner wall of the body, forming an annular recess 4 and a central soap chamber 5, preferably provided with a depressed central portion (5 forming a suction well to aidin hoh ing the soap therein, and an annular ledge 7 extending around the outer 'portion of the bottom of said chamber. The chamber 5 is designed to hold a cake of soap snugly, "the edge of the soap bearing against the side walls of the flange 3,

Iprovided with thereby preventing water from passing down between the edge of the 'soap and the wall of the chamber and lodging. at the bottom thereof;

- As'the brush is applied to the upper surface of the soap the surplus water is continually removed therefrom and drops into the annular recess 4 surrounding the central receptaele. The water used in shavinga person is therefore readily removed by u -ending the cup, and the entire interior of t 1e cup and surface of the sea) may be thoroughly rinsed before being user aga1n,therebyefl'ectually rendering the cup thoroughly sanitary in every respect.

While I prefer to construct the, flange 3 circular in outline so as to hold a round cake of soap,'it is obvious that said flange may be oval or angular without departing from my invention. i v q What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

A shaving cup having a cylindrical body, a

closed bottom formed integrally therewith-- and provided with a flange spaced from said body forming a central soap chamber, and a 1 surrounding recess, substantially as shown and described In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this speeihcation in the presenceof two subscribing witnesses.
