To all whom it may concern! Be it known that I, PATRICK F. QUINN, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, county of New York, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Forms, fully de-- scrlbed and represented .in the following specification and the accompanying drawin s, forming a part of the same;

his invention relates to improvements in garment-forms.

Garment-forms as now generally constructed are sectiona1 that is, the form comprises a plurality of sections having a relative ad-' justment 'with respect to-each other, by'

which adjustment certain variations in the dimensions of the form may be secured. In the constructions heretofore employed, however, it-has been impossible .to adjust the sections so thathiportions or'hips of the form maybe increased or diminished without .at the same time increasin ordiminishing the waist of the form. In t ese prior constructions when it is desired to increase the hip 'portions and at the same time retain the same waist the hip portions are increased or diminished to the extent desired by properly adjusting the sections, which are thensecured in osition, and the waist is then brought to the desired dimensionsby taping in the form at the waistthat 1s, by securing a tape or thelike in any suitable manner by which the hip portions or hips of the form may be adjusted without necessitating the taping in of the form at its waist, thus avoiding dama e to the form. It 1s,fu rthermore, desirable in this class of forms to provide a construction by which the hip portions or hips ofthe form may be so adjusted as to permit an increase in the hips of the form and at the same time retain the so-called straightfront effect, the dimensions of the form at its front or back bein unchanged, such ad.- justment being desira 1e.

The slots of all the plates are engaged by the'rod 6, which extends above the supporting-plate 20, and

this extension is threaded and engages a handle-nut 23, (see Fig. 2,) ositioned above the plates, by which the p ates 21 may be securely fixed in position. These sections of the neck and shoulder portion of the form may thus by this construction be adjusted rela tively to each other to varythe dimensions of that ortion as desired. These straps 24 may be adjustably secured in any suitable manner. This strap 25 extends transversely over the brace 24 and carries a clamping screw 25?, by which the brace 24 is secured against movement when the-sections are adjusted. This construction permits an adjustment between the shoulder and neck por tion of the form and the hip and bust portion by which the height of the shoulder or neck portion may be increased or diminished relatively to the remainder of the form as desired.

As before stated, the hip and bust portion B of the form which will now be described, like the shoulder and neck portion C, comrises a pluralityof sections which are ormed by dividing the portion B vertically. The number of sections thus formed may be varied, but preferably and as shown is four. These sections are marked 12 13 14 15 and are supported in such a manner as to have a relative adjustment with respect to, .each. other. As shown, there is provided on the rod 4 a sliding collar 26, provided with a setscrew 26, on which collar is carrieda sup'porting-plate 28. This plate' 28 has a plurality of radial arms28, one such arm being provided for each section. The arms 28 are slotted, .as at 2'9, and form'tracks on which are car ried movable supports of suitable construction, one for each section, these movablejsupports being shown as blocks or plates,

As before stated it is desirable that'a construction be provided by which the sections of the form may be so adjusted as to increase or diminish the hips of the form relatively to the waist, the hips being increasedand the waist unchanged Without necessitating the taping in or squeezing in of the waist heretofore referred to. Means are therefore vprovided for effecting this adjustment, such means including connections by which an adjusting movement may be given each-section of the portion B independent of the adjusting movement given the sections by the supporting plates 30,- just described. These connections will now be described.

. What is claimed is 1. A garment-form having a hip and bust portion divided vertically into a plurality of sections having a relative adjustment with res eot to each other, a movable support for eac section by which one adjusting movement is given to each section when its sup port is moved, and an adjustable hinged member, carried by each support for giving each section a second adjusting movement independently of the movement given it by the support.

A garment-form comprising a hip and bust portion divided into a plurality of sections having a relative adjustment with respect to each other, connections for giving two independent adjusting movements to each section, and a skirt portion comprising a network of metallic straps or braces pivotally secured together, said skirt portion comprising a plurality of sections secured to the corresponding hip and bust sections and adapted to simultaneously partake of the adjusting movements thereof.
