To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHANCELLOR Terran, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and a resident of Thornhill, in the Province of. Mani- 5 toba, in the Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements in Writers Cabinets, of which t e following is a full, clear, and exact specification.

This'invention relates to certain new and i useful improvements in writers cabinets or devices for use upon a desk for holding writing materials, ink-bottles, mucilage-bottles, pens, and pencils and other materials; and it as for its objects, among others, to provide yet efficient desk-holder in Which-the inkottle may be retained in osition for use without danger of'upsetting, in which the other materials may be securely yet easily detachabl held, making it a very 2o desirable and usefu article, the same being supported upon a detachable base, which may be utilized for the pur ose of holding letters, apers, &c., and yet a 1 of the said materials ein .readily accessible.

Ot er objects and advantages of the invention will be hereinafter more particularly described and the novel features thereof will be specifically defined' by the a pended claims. The invention is clearly i lustrated in the accompanying drawings, which, with the numerals of reference marked thereon, form a part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved device. Fig. 2 is a substantially (fien- 1g. 3 is a perspective view of a somewhat different form of device. Fig. 4 is a perspective detail of a portion of the device seen in Fig. 8. Like numerals of reference, indicate like 0 parts thoughout the several views.

Referring now to the details of the drawings, 1 designates a detachable base of any sultable material, preferably sheet metal, al though any other sufficiently rigid material formed with the parallel upturned sides 2 2, with the inwardlyextending flanges 3 3, as seen clearly in Fig. 1. This box-like base or frame is open at one end and closed at the other, as best seen in 50 Fig. 2, and is thus adapted for the reception and retention of letters, papers, or other articles as will be readily understood. In the lower portion of this wall or member 5 is an opening in which is fitted to slide a drawer 8, having a suitable handle or the like 9, by whichit may be drawn orpulled out or pushed in. This drawer is supported on the base portion 10 of the upper portion of the device, which latter is formed of a single piece'of material bent and formed into the sha eshown, having the top portions 11 and 12 or a purpose hereinafter described and the inclined walls 13 and 14 extending upward and inwardly from the member .4, as seen clearly in Fig. 2, and joined at their upper ends to the horizontal portions 11 and 12. The wall 15 is also integral with the other portions of the upper part of the device, and the lower edge thereof is secured to the base portion 10 by suitable clips 16, stamped from the same and engaged in suitable openings'in the said base portion, as seen in Fig. 2. The other ed e of the base portion 10 has rising therefromt 1e ortion 17, which is bent forward horizontal y to form the top wall 18 and thence bent backward upon itself to form the top Wall 19 and thence rearward and upward, forming the member 20, which has its upper end bent over and downward to form the spring member 21,

which with the rear wall forms a holder for blotters, papers, letters, or any other articles that it may be desired to place therein.
