IMPROVED CLOTHES-DEER.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, A. S. HOPSON, of Plainview, in the countyof Wabashaw, and inthe State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in CIothes-Driers; and do hereby declare that the following is a. full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and tothe letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a clothes-drier, which can be adapted for any number of arms, and may easily be taken apart and put away, if so desired.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and usethe same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referringl to the annexed drawings, which form a part of this specification, and which represent a perspective view of the clothes-drier.
A. represents a cast-iron plate, of suitable shape, which is to be secured to awall, or to a board on the wall, so as not to injure the latter. The upper part of the plate A is bent outward, as shown, and through this. part a rod or bolt, a, is passed, from the lower side upwards. On Athis rod a, above the plate A, is placed a series of arms, B B, which may be of any length, and of' any'number desired. These arms are placed on the said rod by means of holes bored through their ends, through which holes the rod passes. j
At suitable distance above 'the plate :l is placed another plate, C, which is open part of the way through i-ts centre, said' opening extending upwards from thelower end of the plate, as seen in the drawings. The inner edges of the plate C are provided with anges d d, which fit in slots on the inner edge of the sides of a horizontal plate, D. This latter plate is provided with a hole, through which the upper :end of the rod ais passed, after having passed through all the arms B B. The upper end of' the rod et being provided with screwthreads, a nut, e, is placed thereon, which thus holds all thedi'erent parts together.
It will be-seen that, by removing the nut e, the plate D, rod a, and arms B B, can all be taken oli' and put out of the way, when not in use, and, also, that a greater or lesser number of arms may be used, by merely changing the position of the plate C on the wall or board. The anges d 0l fitting in the slots on the plate D, allow the latter plate to slide up and down o'n the plate C, thus accommodating the clothes-drier to any quantity of clothes that may be put on it.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The hanged plate C and slotted sliding plate D, in combination with the rod a, nnte, larmsB B, and plate A, all constructed asdescribed, and operating substantially as and forthe purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand, this 27th day of July, 1,868.
A. S. HOPSON.
