H. HEINE. GLOTHESDRIER.
Patent ed May 8,- 1888.
NITED i'" 1 Erica.
ATENT HERMAN HEINE, OF MILXVAUKEE, WISCONSIN, ASSIGNOR TO HAROLD G.
' UNDERWOOD, OF SAME PLACE.
CLOTHES-DRIER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 382,422, dated May 8, 1888. Application filed March 17,1885. Renewed September 7, 1887. Serial No. 249,040. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HERMAN HEINE, of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee, and in the State of lVisconsim-have invented cer- 5 taiu new and useful Improvements in Clothes- Driers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
My invention relates to clothes-driers, and
ID will be fully described hereinafter.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my device in position on a stove-pipe. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is an edge view, and Fig.4 is a section on line 00 r. w of Fig. 2.
The body of my device consists of two sec ,tions, A A, hinged together at a at one end. The section A has a flange, 2), on its end opposite the hinge, which flange is perforated to 20 receive a screw-bolt, c, that projects from a flange, b, of section A, and the parts are held together at this point by a thumb-nut, c, that fits on the screw bolt. The form of the sections is shown in cross-section in Fig. of the 25 drawings, each having a vertical portion adapted to fit about the stove pipe and a horizontal portion which is slotted atf. The arms that support the clothes consist each of a rod, F, preferably of wood, and a ferrule, F, the
0 end of which projects at right angles to its body and terminates in a flat or nearly flat head, F which latter is introduced into the enlargenientf of slotf, as shown at the right in Fig. 2, and then turned into the position 5 shown to the left on same figure, or more clearly in Fig. 4, after which it may be carried toward the opposite end of the slot to give place to another, and thus several arms may be strung on each section.
It will be observed that the bent ends ofthe ferrules fit looselyin the slotsf, and therefore the rods F may be turned to either side, so as to lie either parallel or at angles to each other.
My device may be clamped to any stovepipe and as easily removed therefrom.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a clothesraek, the circunifcrcntiallyslotted hinged sections in combination with arms having bent and headed ferrules, as set forth.
2. In a clothes drieiythe combination of the hinged sections, each section having a horizontal and a vertical flange, the latter to embrace the support of the drier, and the former provided with a circumferential slot extending continuously from end to end, with removable arms having ferrules bent at abouta right angle, and provided with headed ends for engagement with the described slots, substantially as set forth. t
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand, at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, in the presence of two witnesses.
HERMAN HEINE.
