L. Z. PQULIOT.
PULLEY FOR WINDOW SHADE ROLLERS.
APPLIOATION PILEDIEB 25, 1903.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LOUIS ZOTIQUE POULIOT, OF MONTREAL, CANADA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE- HALF TO ALEXANDRE P. SIMAR, OF MONTREAL, CANADA.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented April 3, 1906.
Application filed February 25, 1903- Serial No. 144,962.
To a whmn it may concern:
Be it known that I, LoUIs ZoTI UE POU- LIOT, shade manufacturer, of the city of Montreal, Province of Quebec, Canada, have invented a certain new Improvement in Pulleys for Window-Shade Rollers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same.
My invention relates to pulleys for windowshade rollers by which the shade can be conveniently raised or lowered without liability of injury to the shade and without disturbing the adjustment thereof.
A further object is to provide a device for the purpose stated which is simple in construction, eifective in operation, and which can be easily and quickly applied to the shaderoller.
To these ends the invention consists in a device adapted to be applied to the end of the roller of a shade, constructed and arranged substantially as hereinafter illustrated and described, and defined in the appended claim.
Referring to the drawings, in which similar letters of reference indicate similar parts, Figure 1 is a view in perspective of a windowshade provided with a device constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a side view of the supporting-bracket. Fig. 3 is a perspective of one of the disks. Fig. 4 is a detail showing the two disks and cooperating parts in position on the shade. Fig. 5 is asectional View showing the disks and securingpin. Fig. 6 is a detail of the guide-plate.
In the drawings, A represents the roller-bar of any ordinary or preferred form of springoperated window-shade. At one end of said roller-bar is secured a pair of metal disks a a circular in form and spaced a suitable distance apart by means of an intervening axis or hub a the same being attached to the roller by means of a pin b, one end of which projects beyond the outer end of the disk at and which passes through the hub and both disks. Upon the disk (1 is formed an attaching point or orifice to which the operating-cord O is attached. In operation the cord 0 is attached to one of the disks a a and wound about the hub or axis a By pulling on the cord O the shade can be wound or unwound in the wellknown manner.
A guide-plate B is secured in any suitable manner, preferably to the supporting-bracket B, and is provided with a guide-slot b, through which the operating-cord O is passed and by which it is retained in operative positi( n.
In operating this invention it is .iy necessary to properly adjust the tension of the spring in the roller to the weight of the shade, then draw down the shade to its lowest limit, attach the cord O to its fastening-point, and wrap two or three turns about the hub. The shade may then be run up to any desired point by simply pulling upon the cord.
'le a simple and effective type of this invention is disclosed herein, it is to be understood that many changes in the details may be made without departing from the scope of the invention.
What I do claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a device of the character described the combination of a shade-roller, a pulley comprising a pair of disks held spaced apart by an intermediate hub and secured to said roller, a supporting-bracket removably connected to the roller and having a base to engage a fixture, and a guide member to be removably secured to the supporting-bracket through the medium of the means for securing said bracket to the fixture, said guide member being coextensive in width with the width of the pulley and formed with a longitudinal opening practically coextensive in width with the width of the hub.
No. 321 Mount Royal avenue, Montreal, February 18, 1903.
