IMPROVEMENT In FLOWS.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that I, ABRAM C. JAQUES, of the city and in the county of Leavenworth, and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plows; 'and the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Q I Figure 1 represents a .plan or top view of my improved plow.

The object of my invention is to lessen the friction of the draught,'cut tho furrows of a uniform width, and trim thetop soil bottom fip.

My invention consists in the construction of the adjustable frame, brace, and guide-wheel at or near the front end of the plow-beam; also, in the projecting horizontal lip or cutter-blade on the land-side, and the vers tical spur-cutter on the point-of the plowshare. I I

To enable others to make and use my improvements, I will describe them more'fully, referring to the drawings, and to the letters marked thereon. l 1 Thebeam and handles may be constructed in the ordinary manner. The land-side A andmcnld-board B may be made of cast iron of any desired pattern, and secured to the handles and beam in the usual way; and there may be a friction-roller, C, placed'in the rear of the mould-board, if desired. The plowshare D is made with a blade, E, extending-out from the point e on the land-side, at about the same'angle as the cutting-edge of the share D, flat with it, to run in under the earth left on the land-side. On the top of the point is a spur orthin cutter, d, placed in a direct line withthe land-side of the plow,.which cuts clean any small roots under the surface. At the forward end of the beam is fitted an adjustable frame, F, with a brace,f, extending back to the beam, on the furrow-side. In the under side of the-frame F is fitted a roller, G,whieh extends down to the level of the bottom of the plowshare D, so as to run in the furrow last turned against the smooth edge of the land, forming the most perfect guide for the width of the furrows, and may be adjusted to any desired width.

What I claimas my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The adjustable frame F and roller G, to determine and guide the width of the-furrow, substantially as herein described.

2. The projecting horizontal blade E and'the vertical spur-cutter cl on the plow poiht, as and for the pur-' poses herein set forth.
