CORPORATION OF PENNSYLVANIA.
FOLDING DISPLAY-BOX FOR SUSPENSORIES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 793,595, dated June 27, 1905.
Application filed January 19, 1905. Serial No. 241,790.
To all whom it n'uty con/007%:
Be it known that I, J OHN ELLwooD LEE, a citizen of the United States of America, residing in Oonshohocken, in the county of Montgomery, State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Improved Folding Dis play-Box for Suspensories, of which the following isaspecification.
The main object of my invention is to provide a display-box for suspensories which will occupy but small space and will hold the suspensory well and in such a way that it can be shown to advantage when opened for display.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan of a blank from which my improved display-box may be formed. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same with a suspensory in display position, and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the closed box.
\Vhen the blank is cut out of cardboard in a single piece, it is in four portions, numbered 1, 2, 3, and 4:- Portion 1, to form the cover of the box, has flaps (t, 7), and 0 on three sides, and these are bent up at right angles to the portion 1. The bent flaps b and 0 are joined to the flap a preferably by metallic corner-sccuring devices 0 to form an inclosing cover. A flap (Z forms the back of the box and also the connecting-hinge between the cover part 1 and the adjoining bottom part 2 of the body of the box. This part 2 has preferably at its opposite ends flaps f and r which are shown as turned at right angles to the bottom part, Fig. 2, while a flap it serves as the front side of the box and also as a connecting-piece between the portion 2 and the portion 3. Portion 3 is narrowed at 7:: near the bottom portion, with edges inwardly tapering at 0. The portion 4 is a rounded tongue of diminished width. Each portion is made foldable on the dotted lines shown, as by scoring. Portion 2 may be provided with elastic or other retaining means 1) and p.
In use the sack s of the suspensory is fitted over the rounded tongue 4 and secured by the band B of the suspensory, which passes around the part 7i, and through the buckle B of the suspcnsory. The tapering edges 0 of the part 7r: act as retaining-shoulders for the band B to hold the suspensory on the display-card. The end of the band B may be folded and inserted under detaining means, such as an elastic 7), While the end of the leg-band A may be similarly folded and secured by the other detaining means 1). By folding the portion 4: on the dotted lines m the sack will be folded about where it meets the stronger fabric m of the suspensory, and the portions 3 and 4 thus folded together occupy a position within the box and are inclosed by the box, which thus can be made of comparatively narrow width.
I claim as my invention 1. A folding display-box for suspensories, formed of a single foldable sheet and having a cover portion with box sides, a bottom, and an end portion adapted to be folded over the bottom and to be inclosed by the cover, said end portion comprising a rounded tongue over which the suspensory-sack is fitted and an intermediate part with retaining-shoulders for the band of the suspcnsory.
2. A folding display-box for suspensories, having a cover portion with box sides, a bottom, a portion adjoining the bottom and having retaining-shoulders for the support of the band, and a fourth portion, adjacent to said shouldered portion and consisting of arounded tongue, over which the sack is fitted, all said portions adapted to be folded upon each other.
3. The combination of a suspensory with a display-sheet, comprising a rounded portion 4 to support the sack of the suspensory, and an adjacent wider portion 3 with retainingshoulders for the band of the suspensory, the sheet being folded at w between said two pertions as and for the purpose described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two sub scribing witnesses.
JOHN ELLWVOOD LEE. Witnesses:
