Description
'J.. H. FLEMING] Churn No. 78,199. Patented May 26, 1868.
N FETERS, FHOTO LITNOGRAPHEIL WASHINGTON D C M1211. %1 ttftttttnt gifts- 2 m Letters Patent 1V0; 78,199, dated May 26, 1868.-
IMPROVEMENT IN cuunn's.
my: ,Srlgshnli main to in time gzttcrs 21m amt matinq part at it: time.
TO ALL WHOM 1T MAY-CONCERN:
Be it known that I, J. H. FLEMING. of Groton, in the county of Erie, and State of Ohio, hare invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ohurns; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and complete description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drnwings, making a part of this specification in which-- Figiire 1 is a front view.
Figure'2 is a top view of the dasher.
Figure 3 is a side view of the same.
Like letters of reference refer to-likc parts inthe viewsa In the drawing, Arepresents the case, which can be constructed in the ordinary way of upright churns, a portion beingbroken away in fig. 1 to show the dasher.
The top, B, of this case is made adjustable, being hinged to the body of the churn, and is very easily thrown back by relieving the hook 0, thus giving a free and easy access to the inside of the churn, also relieving the shaft of the dasher, and allowing it'to be removed from the churn. Fig. 2 is a top yiew of the dasher, which consists of the shaft D, and a'rms'or wings D, which are of the form represented, and extend from the bottom of the shaft up, as shown in fig. 3, which is a. side view of fig. 2. i
In the top of this shaft are seen the holes a, fig, 2,- which holes eittend down and open between the arms,
as shown at af, figs. I and 3, thus allowing fresh'air to pass in from the top, down the dasher to the cream.
In these arms may be out the holes E, thus giving greater agitation to the cream.
This churn is operated by the crank, F, on the shaft of which is the wheel G, which gears into the pinion I- on the shaft of the dasher, thus operating said dasher, and churning the cream easily, and in a short time;
What I claim as my improvement, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-.
The dasher D. constructed as set forth, in combination with the hinged cover 13, with the gearing arrange in connection therewith, substantially as and for the'pnrpose set forth.
