IMPROVEMENT IN BROILERS AND TOASTERS.

TO ALL WHOM I T MAYOONGERN:

Be it known that we, WILLIAM F, COLLIER and JONAII H. BIGELO'iV, of the city and county'of Worcester, State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in the Ma-nulacture of Broilers or Toasters; and we,do hereby declare the following to bee. full, clear, and exact description of the some, due reference being had to the accompanying drawings, cnd'to the letters of reference marked thereon. In said drawings- Figure 1 shows a perspective view.

Figure 2 shows the manner of holding the slats or wires from slipping Figure 3 shows some variations of the same.

The use of wire broilers having become so general, and their peculicr exposure to the heat and gas of the -fire, and the rcpors of their contents, rendering them so liable to destruction, any device that improves their construction or cheapens their production becomes in the aggregate of much importance.

Our invention relates to both these objects, and consists in forming, in the mannerhcreinafter described, protuberz nces on the frame, to hold the ClOSSbtHSj or wires from slipping on them. i

A A (see drawings) is the frame or outside; 13 B, the bars or shits; C, the handles. On the frame A, we make the projections D D, fig. 2, by punching or pressing on each side, so as to throw out a part of the metal without bending the :ixis or centre line of the \vireforming the frame, as shown at A in section, through the line a b, and, between D D, we bend the ends of the cross-bars 13 round A, whiclrkceps them in place. The other parts may he of any of the usual forms. Fig. Sshows somevariutions inthe manner of making the'p'rojcctions, which in some cases may be desirable, though we consider that shown in fig. 2 the best.

'Having described our invention, and the manner in which the same is or may be carried into effect, what we claim, 'and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is i The wire frame A A, when provided with a series of cars or projections, D D, formed by pressing out part of the metal without bending the wire, in combination with the bars B B and hnndlesfsuhstantially as and for the purposes heroin shown and described.
