WITNESSES a Jb/m Parzfigmaellelt w/gm A TTORNEYS JOHN PARTHEYMUELLER; OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
I SHOW-CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 754,233, dated lifarch 8, 1904. Application filed December 12, 1903. Serial No. 184,872. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN PARTHEYMUELLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and use ful Improvements in Show-Cases, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to show-cases, and particularly to the frame thereof; and the object thereof is to provide a show-case the frame of which is of improved construction, said show-case being adapted to be used as an ordinary show-case or as an upright show-case for the display of goods on the sidewalk; and with these and other objects in view the invention consists of a show-case constructed as hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawings form a part, in which the separate parts of my invention are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which- Figure l is a perspective view of my improved show-case; Fig. 2, a section on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1; Fig. 3, a section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1; Fig. 4, an inside view of one part of the show-case; Fig. 5, a section thereof on the line 5 5; and Fig. 6, a view of one of the corners of my improved show-case frame, but showing the parts disconnected.
In the practice of my invention as shown in the drawings I provide a show-case frame composed of longitudinal side corner-pieces a, four of which are employed, corner-pieces a four of which are employed, and end cornerpieces a four of which are employed, and in a frame thus formed are placed panels 6 of glass or other transparent material. Both of the frame-pieces a and a are exactly the same in cross -section and are composed of metal, said pieces comprising, as shown in Fig. 5, two plates a, connected in the form of an L, and as upplemental plate a connected with one ofthe plates a and arranged parallel of the other plate a and having an angular flange or'extension a parallel with the plate a, with which the plate a 'is connected, and by means of this construction each of the side parts of the frame is provided with two longitudinalgrooves a and a which open at right angles to each other, and in these grooves the panels 6 are placed.
In the form of construction shown, two of the parts of the frame, the parts a and a in said form of construction, are beveled at the corners at an angle of forty-five degrees, as shown at c in Figs. 1 and 6, and the corresponding corner-piece a of the frame is cut off square, and set into the groove a in said corner-piece is a block d, designed to receive a screw 6. In connecting these parts to form the corners the frame members a; and a are brazed together, and the part a is placed squarely against the same, and the screw 6 is passed through the parts a; and a at the point d in the corner member of. This makes a perfectly secure and strong frame, andit will be understood that the panels are secured in place at the same time that the parts of the frame are connected. It will also be seen from the foregoing construction that each of the parts of the frame consists of a piece of metal L- shaped in cross-section and another piece of metal L-shaped in cross-section and connected with one part of the first-named piece, so as to form longitudinal grooves which open at right angles to each other, and it is immateinto this shape in cross-section.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desireto secure by Letters Patent, is
A show-case frame the separate parts of which are of the same shape in cross-section, said parts consisting of a piece of metal L- shaped in cross-section, and another piece of metal L-shaped in cross-section and connected with one part of the first-named piece whereby two longitudinal grooves are formed one of which opens at right angles to the other, the corners being formed by cutting two of said pieces at a bevel or inclination of fortyfive degrees and the other transversely, and the part which is cut transversely being provided where they are connected and into the'block' rial how the said parts of the frame be formed k A with a block which is secured in one of its ence of the subscribing witnesses, this 11th day grooves and adapted to receiye a screw passed of December, 1903.
through-the connection of the other parts, said last-named parts being brazed together, sub- JOHN PARTHEYMUELLER 5 stantially as shown and described. Witnesses:
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as F. A. STEWART,
O. J. KLEIN.
my invention I have signed my name, in pres-
