SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 751,713, dated February 9, 1904.
Application filed October 16, 1902. Serial No. 127,497. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern/.1
Be it known that we, CYRUS M. BERRY and ISRAEL O. PUTNAM, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Orlando, in the county of Orange and State of Florida, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tents for Shading Tobacco or the Like, of which the following is a specification.
The improvement pertains to tents for shading tobacco and the like during the growth of the same.
In the accompanying drawings, Figurel is a general perspective view of a tent embodying our invention. Fig. 2 is a detail view in side elevation. Fig. 3 is a detail of the fastening means.
In the accompanying drawings the letter (4 denotes supporting-posts. The letter I denotes downwardly-opening troughs supported on said posts, the shape of which is not material so long as they are in shape adapted and designed to protect the union of the sections of cloth with these troughs. The letter 0 denotes hooks fixed underneath these troughs.
The letter (Z denotes sections of top cloth. To the edges of each section there are attached rings or gromets to take upon the hooks 0.
The letter 6 denotes wires running from post to post.
The letter denotes a ring or gromet attached to a section of top cloth and encircling wire 0.
The letter g denotes a cord by which the sections of top cloth may be pulled one way and the other, so as to cover or uncover the growing vegetables.
The tent has also sections of side cloth g, both edges of which are equipped with the rings or gromets. The upper edge is hooked under one of the troughs and the lower edge is hooked underneath the base-board lb, which is equipped underneath with the hooks.
It will be readilg understood that by means of this arrangement any part of the top or side of the tent may be covered with the cloth or uncovered at pleasure.
We claim as our invention The combination with the posts, of downwardly-opening troughs secured on the upper ends thereof, hooks secured to the interior of said troughs, wires extending between the posts and being secured thereto, cloth-sections slidably supported on said wires and having one of their ends connected to said hooks, a cord attached to all of said cloth-sections, a base-board secured to the outer posts and being provided on its lower face with hooks, the outer trough being also provided on its interior at a point beyond the adjacent posts with the hooks, and side cloths secured to the hooks of the said base-board and hooks of said last-named trough.
In testimony whereof we affiX our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
