PATENT OFFICE.
ERIK L. KRAG, OE OHIOAGO, ILLINOIS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 746,106, dated December 8, 1903.
Application filed January 21, 1903. Serial No. 140,028. (No model.)
To all whom `it may concern/.1
Be it known that I, ERIK L. KRAG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lock-Boxes, of which the following is a speciication.
One of the objects of this invention is the production of a lock-boxhaving a protected hinge for its door or cover.
A further object of the invention is the improvein entin details and the general arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully set forth. In the accompanying drawings, Figure lis a horizontal section through a lockbox embodying my invention, taken On dotted line l l of Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a vertical section On dotted line 2 2 OfFig. 1. Fig. 3 isa horizontal section showing a modifiedv construction.
In the construction of this'lock-box I provide a receptacle comprising the top 1, the bottom 2, the rear wall 3, the side Walls I and 5, and the door 6. The forward edge O f the sidewall 4 is bent over toward said door at right angles with the main portion of said wall in the covering-liange 7. An angle-iron bracket 8, having an integral side' flange 9, is secured to the side Wall 4 near the forward edge thereof by means Of rivets 10 passing through suitable openings (not shown) in said side wall LLand said dange 9. Hinges Il, of ordinary construction, are secured to the angle-iron bracket 8 and the inner side ofthe door 6, whereby said door is pivotally mounted with relation to said box. The-door fits tightly within the forward edges of the top, bottom, and side walls of the receptacle, inward movement being limited by the rear edge of said door striking against the inner side Of the covering-{iange 7. The door may be swung freely Outward upon its hinge-joint into the positionindicated by dotted lines in Fig. 1. Y
In the modified form illustrated in Fig. 3 p Y separating-wall between them, thatseparate angle-iron brackets might be used to support each of the hinges 11, and that many other and further changes might be made in the construction of this lock-box and the arrangement of its parts without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention. Therefore I desire to have it understood that I do not limit myself to the precise form or arrangement of parts herein shown and described. l
I claim as my invention- 1. In a lock-box, in combination, a receptacle having an open side; a closure for said open side; a bracket secured within the receptacle, near the open side thereof; and a hinge connection 'between said bracket and the inner side of said closure...
2. ln a lock-box, in combination, a receptacle having an open side; a closure for said open side; an angle-iron bracket having a longitudinal liange at one side thereof, which angle-iron bracket is secured to said receptacle near the Open side thereof; 4and a hinge connection between said bracket and the in- 4ner side of said closure.
3. In a lock-box, in combination, 'a recepf tacle having an open side, one of its sides be ing provided with an inturned covering-v flange partially closing the Open side; a clo- 1 sure for said Open side; a bracket formed of angle-iron and secured within the receptacle
