IMPROVEMENT IN WAGON-POLE SUPPORT.

To ALL WHOM-IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, DON CARLOS NEWTON, of Betavia, in the county of Kane, and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Wagon-Pole Supporters; and I do hereby declare that the following in a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make andfuse the some, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specifieation.
This improvement relates to the manner in which the steel spring end wooden lever are co'mbined'nnd attached to the axle and pole ofthe wagon for the support of the pole, thereby taking off the weight of the pole from the necks of the horses.- i
A. is the wagon-pole,- B the steel spring, and C the wooden lever; F, the king-bolt, passing through the axle G, which fastens the endof the wooden lever G to the axle G; D, the chain, which, passing through the staple H, in the wooden lever, and hooked or-fastened on the draw-bolt E in the pole A, holds the wooden lever C. i
The steel spring B, fastened at one end to the wooden lever C, passes loosely through the staple I, in the pole A. The pole is supported by the end of the steel spring B, at I, thus relieving the horsesnecks: from all weight of the pole. V v V i r Olaz'm.
What I claim as my invention, is- I V 1. The combination ofthe steel spring B with the wooden lever G. 2. The manner of attaching the wooden lever G to the draw-holt E, by means of the chainD.
