IMPROVEMENT IN STICKS FOB. TRUNDLING HOOPS.
tite tlgemle referat tu in time Entert ntmt nih making nati nf the sume.
TO" ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, AGNES DoIsY, of the city of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton, and State of Ohio, have invented certain Improvements in Hoop-Sticks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in thera'rt to ,make anduse the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, inwrhich` i Figure 1 is a view of a hoop with my improved stick, and 4 i Figures 2 and 3 represent two diiierent modes of attaching theelastic cord `to my improved stick.
This invention relates to an improved stick, used for driving and guiding hoops, whichvthe children use as a plaything; and it consists in providing the stick with an elastic'band, cord, or tape, which may be passed in the hoop, and fastened at both ends to the stick, so as to keep the hoop entirely within the control of the child, prevent it from running in gutters, garden-plots, Sto., by limiting. the distance towhich the hoop will run away from Athe child. A p
A is a hoop of any ordinary construction or kind. B is a stick, having ahandle, C. D is any elastic band, tape, or rope fastened at both ends to the stick B, at a point above the place where the h and of the child grasps it, yand forming a loop into which the hoop A. is enclosed, as represented in iig. 1'. The band, cord, or tape D is fastend in a permanent manner to the stick by one of its ends, while the other end can be fastened or unfastened at pleasure to encircle the hoop A in the loop. ,i
Inv fig. 2 the stick has a-small eye, e,'to which is tied one end of the cord D, while the other end of said cord is provided with a small piece, G, shaped as a T, and which can, by being thrust through the eye e, hook or retain the end of the cord D, and be unhooked at pleasure, in the same manner as dog-chains or cattle-chains` are made fast to collar or other rings. l In iig. 3 the stick is provided with a groove,f, in which both ends of the elastic rope D are held, by having a loop, H, made at both ends of said cord D, which loop H is passed over the end b of the stick B, und slipped along until it falls in the groovef.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by LettersPatent of the United States, is
The improved hoop-stick B, provided with an elastic strap, tape, orcord, D, fastened by one end to the stick B, and being susceptible of being hooked or fastened by the other cud to the said stick, in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
