Description
PATENTED JAN. 27, 1903f A. M. BRUSH. CURTAIN 0R PORTIERE HOLDER.
APPLICATION FILED BEPT.19, `1902.
N0 MODEL.
UNTTE STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AMANDA M. BRUSH, OF WILMERDING, PENNSYLVANIA.
CURTIN OR PORTIRE HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 718,976, dated January 27, 1903. Application filed September 19. 1902. Serial No. 124,009. (No model.)
To a/L whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, AMANDA M. BRUSH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wilmerding, in the county ofAllegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain or Portiere Holders; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to curtain or portire holders.
The object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which shall be simple of construction, durable in use, and comparatively inexpensive of production and one which will eectively hold the curtain or portire in drawn position from across the window or door.
With these and other objects in View the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination, and arrangement of part-s, which will be hereinafter more fully set forth, and particularly defined in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a view of a window-frame, showing the position of the parts of my improved device when not in use. Fig. 2 is a similar View showing the curtain held from in frontof the window by my improved device. Fig. 3 is a detail perspectiveview of the support or rest for the holder. Fig. 4 is a View of the holder, and Fig. 5 is a view of the button.
Referring to the drawings, 1 denotes a button, which is provided near its edge with a segmental recess 2, that extends to the center of the button.
4 denotes the angular rest, which is secured to the edge of the window-frame in position to support the holder when it is turned to the position shown in Fig. 2, in which position the curtain or portiere is engaged with the holder and held drawn. When the holder is not in use, it is swung "to the position vshown in Fig. l and is supported in this vertical position by bearing against the side wall of the recess of the button.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction, operation, and advantages of my invention will be readily apparent, it is thought, without requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportion, and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a device of the character described, the combination with a button provided with a segmental recess and an angular arm pivoted in said recess, of an angular rest adapted to support said angular arm in horizontal position, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand inpresence of two subscribing witnesses.
AMANDA M. BRUSH.
