Description
No. 675,220. Patented May 28. l90l.
- n. n. JONES.
WINDOW SHADE BRACKET.
(Applicatiomflled Sept. 4 1900.)
(No Modem UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DAVID R. JONES, OF HOMESTEAD, PENNSYLVANIA.
WINDOW-SHADE BRACKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 675,220, dated May 28, 1901.
Application filed September 4, 1900. Serial No. 28,981. (No model!) To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, DAVID R. J ONES, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Homestead, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in VVindow- Brackets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to certain new and usefulimprovementsin window-brackets,and more particularly to adjustable brackets for shade-rollers and the like.
This invention has for its object the provision of novel means whereby a shade-roller may be easily adjusted laterally to fit the ends of the shaderoller.
The invention consists of a fixture the ends of which are bent outwardly at right angles, said ends carrying suitable fastening means to receive a screw-threaded shaft, upon which is mounted an adjustable bracket or hanger to receive the ends of the. shade-roller.
The invention further consists of the novel construction, combination", and arrangement of parts, to be more particularly described, and specifically pointed out in the claim.
In describing the invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, wherein like numerals indicate like parts throughout the several views, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of the upper portion of the window-frame with my improved bracket secured thereto and the shade.
in their upper edges with recesses or slots 4.
The body of the bracket is provided with apertures 5 to receive nails or like fastening means for securing the same to the face of the window-frame. Each of these brackets supports a threaded shaft-6, having shanks 8 for engagement in the slots or recesses, and on the outer end is provided with a thumb-piece or head 7 for turning the shaft. On each of these shafts is mounted a bracket 9, having a threaded opening 10 to receive the threaded shaft, and each of these brackets is cut away on its inner end to form lugs 11, which frictionally engage with the inner face of the bracket 2 and hold the brackets 9 horizontal. One of the brackets 9 is provided in its upper edge near the outer end with a recess 12, while the other is provided with an aperture 13 to receive, respectively, the pintles (not shown) of the shade-roller 14. By turning either of the heads 7 the respective shaft 6 will be rotated so as to adjust its respective bracket or hanger 9 laterally to the desired position. The recessing of the brackets or hangers 9 on their inner end decreases the amount of surface for frictional engagement with the brackets 2 and permits the easy manipulation of the screw-shafts.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim to be new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a window-fixture, the combination of a base-plate, two outwardly-bent ends extending at right angles to said base-plate the said ends having recesses formed in their upper edges, a screw-shaft mounted in said recesses, a head made integral therewith, shanks on said screw-shaft for engagement with the recesses, a sliding bracket provided with a threaded aperture mounted on said screwshaft, lugs carried by the said bracket and having a space therebetween, the said lugs forming an engagement with the outer face of the said base-plate, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
DAVID R. JONES.
Witnesses:
