PRESSURE-BLOWER.
SPECIFGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 718,693, dated January 20, 1903. Application led January 20. 1902. Serial No. 90,430. (No model.)

Be it known that I, ALFRED WELLS CASE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Highland Park, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pressure-Blowers, of which the followingis a specification.
This invention relates to a fan-blower which is constructed to produce a greater pressure of air than can be produced by the ordinary fan-blower.
The object is the constructionof a blower which is simple and cheap, which will operate with little power, and which will cause a flow of a considerable volume of air under more pressure than can be obtained with the ordinary fan-blower.
The blower that is illustrated as embodying the invention has a cylindrical shell with a central transverse partition that separates the interior of the shell into two chambers.`
The partition is mounted upon the shaft, and in one chamber are the fan-blades, openings being made through the partition in front of the outer ends of the blades, so that air accumulating at -the outer ends of the bladesv may flow through the openings into the other chamber and from thence into the outlet-pipe.
Figure 1 of the accompanying drawings shows a diametrical section of an improved blower mounted upon a shaft. Fig. 2 shows a face View of the blower looking inthe direction indicated by the arrow 2. Fig. 3 shows a face View looking in the direction indicated by the arrow 3, and Fig. 4 shows a transverse section on the plane 4indicated by the broken line of Fig. 1 looking in the direction of the arrow 4.
The shaft 5 is supported by bearings of common form in ordinary standards 6. The shell which is borne by and rotates With the shaft is formed of thin metal with a peripheral band 7 andahead 8, fastened to one side, and a head 9, fastened to the other side. A partition 10, fastened to the shaft by flanges 11 and to the peripheral band, extends across the interior of the shell and divides the space into two chambers 12 and 13. 14 is made through the head 8 for the inflow of air, and an opening 15 is made through the head 9 for the outflow of air. I claim as my invention- 1. A pressure-blower consisting of a rotatable cylindrical shell with a central inletopening through one end and a central outlet-opening through the other end, a partition extending parallel with the ends and dividing the interior of the shell into two cylindrical chambers, fan-blades arranged in one of the chambers, and an opening through the partition in front of the outer end of each blade, substantially as specified.
2. A pressure-blower consisting of a rotatable cylindrical shell with a central inletopening through one end and a central outlet-openin g through the other end, a partition extending parallel with the ends and dividing the interior of the shell into two cylindrical chambers, fan-blades arranged in one 'of .the chambers, and openings through the partition from the chamber in which the fanblades are locatedV into the other chamber, substantially as specified.
3. A pressure-blower consisting of a rotatable cylindrical shell having two cylindrical chambers with a central inlet-opening through one end into one chamber, and a central outlet-opening through the other end from the other chamber, with fan-blades arranged in the inlet-chamber, substantially as specified.
