TO ALL WHOM IT MAY C-ONCERN Be it known that we, OSCAR M. BROOKS and ELISHA J.MAT1ESON, of the city of Janesville, in the county of Rock, and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful Mop-Wringcr; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a view in perspective,
Figure 2 is a side View or elevation, and
Figure 3 is a top view. Y 4
The nature of our invention relates to that class of mop-wringcrs that have two parallel wringing-rolls attached to a pail or tub, and consists in supporting them on the upper or working ends of two inclined supports that have their lower ends pivoted to the outer ends of tivo vhorizontal yokes, that are secured to or clasp the pail on either side, and in operating them by means of a treadle that is joined directly to each roll by separate vertical connecting links, substantially as and for the purpose hereinafter described. l
' To enable-others skilled in the-art to make and use our invention, we will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
`In the drawings., A. represents the pail or tub, and B B the two parallel wringing-rolls. These rolls are placed horizontally with reference to each other, and take bearing at either end in the upper ends o the inclined supports e 7L, that have their lower ends pivoted at the outer ends oi' the horizontal yolzes H. These yokes clasp the pail (as shown) onleither side, and are secured thereto by the screws iig. 2. The treadlcF has a foot-piece, b, on Which the foot is Aapplied when it is desired to Work the wringer, and is divided at the foot-pieceinto two arms that curve on either side around the pail, and have their ends attached by the same pivot as the supports L, to the ends of the yokes H. Each arm of the treadle is joined centrally by separate connecting linksf and g, to the adjacent ends of each of the rolls B B, as shown in drawings. '.l'o prevent the pail from tipping over when the treadle is'opcrated, I attach at the side, and near the bottomthereof, a broad web or ange, O, as shown. To keep the rolls separate vwhen not in use, I employ on either side of the pail a spring, z', that is attached to a spur ou the yoke H, as shown, and works against the under side ofthe arms of the trcadle F.
To operate or useour mop-wringer, it is onlynecessary to place the mop H to be Wrung,`between the rolls B B, tig. 2, and then, having pressed down the treadle'F, by applyin the foot to the foot-piece 6', the rolls are .drawn down and pressed forcibly against the mop, when, by withdrawing the latter, it is found to bewrung and removing the foot, the spring t' again raises the treadle and separates the rolls as before.
l What We claim, is-
1. The inclined supports c and z, when pivoted at opposite ends of the horizontal yokes H, and used to support tivo parallel and similarly operating rolls B B, substantially as described.
2. The combination and arrangement of a treadle, F, pivoted at the ends of tivo horizontal yoltes H, with the connecting linksf and g, spring z', inclined supportse and It, and horizontal yokes H, when the whole are constructed, arranged, andused substantially as described.
OSCAR M. BROOKS,
E. J. MATTESON.
