IMPROVED MOP WRINGER..
tlge Sdgrmle aferra tu in tlgcse tcttcts iuterft mit mating putt if lge same.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, LA FOREST ROLLINS, of Bangor, in the county of Penobscot, and State of Maine, have invented a new and useful Mop Wringer; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of' the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a perspective v iew of my invention applied to a common mop.
Figure 2 is a similar View, butshowing the operation of the wringen; and
Figure 3 is a detached view ofthe lower part of the wringer.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several gures.
The nature of my invention consists in a wringer, which is easily attached to the handle of any kind of mop, and to which the lower end of the wiper is secured, so that by actuating the wring'er the water is eieetually expelled from the wiper.
In the drawings, A represents the handle of the mop, and a the head, in which is secured one end of the cloth or wiper C, the other end being fastened to the wringer d by the clamp c and thumb-nuts ff, which secure and hold the clamp. The wringer al is formed of a round metallic rod, flattened at its lower end to receive the clamp e, as shown, while its upper end-is bent to form a short crank by which to actuate it in wringing. bis a vmetallic plate, formed with a longitudinal concavity to lit the handle A, and is secured thereto by screws.' Two studs, c c, are formed upon this plate, and the wringer-rod d passes through holes in the studs, which thus serve to hold rod d in its proper position.
When'the mop is being:r used, the wringer is in the position shown in'ig. l, thus leaving the upper part of handle A free and unineumbered; while the process of wringing` is clearly shown in iig. 2, the rod d being:r revolved by the crank at its upper end, serves to twist the wiper O, thus eifectually expelling the water therefrom.
,'.lhe mop-hond a, which secures the wiper, may be of any of the numerous kinds in use, and I do not claim the mop, or any part thereof; but what I do claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The wringer, as constructed, with cranked rod CZ, the adjustable clamp e, and connectionb, all constructed and arranged to operate :substantially as and for the purposes speciiedf.
