Be it known that I, JAMES D. MOORE, of Grinnell, in the county of Poweshiek, and in the State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Calendars for Watches; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the annexed drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a. part of this specification.
My invention consists in placing a ring within the case of an ordinary watch.
In the accompanying drawings, A represents either the front or back of the watch-case, which is provided with an annular groove near the outer part of the inside. Within this groove is placed a neatly-fitting ring x,
the upper face of which is flush with the face of the inside face of the watch. This groove may be secured within the case by small loops, keepers, or other suitable devices, and is provided with a series of figures, begin-'- ning at No. 1 and ending at 81, which are divided by a small line at equal distenees apnrt. Just inside of this ring, upon the inner face of the case, is series of letters to correspond with the number of figures on the ring. These letters are thebeginning of the names of each day of the week, and as such are placed in regular order, filling the entire circle 2. s y i p It will be seen by this simple device that a, calendar is formed within the case of watch in such a. manner that it is only necessary to alter the position of the ring once every month.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- A watch-case provided with the movable rings: and stationery ring 2, with their letters and figures, arranged in the manner-substantially as and for the purposes specified.
In testimony that I cluimthe foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 10th day of April, 1867.
