Description
H. IN GRAHAM.
Plow-Clevis.
No. 68.200. I Patented Aug 27, 1867 mmsm: MW
Quits): tetra gaunt first HANFORD INGRAHAM, OF NAPLES, NEW-YORK.
Letters Patent No. 68,200, dated August 27, 1867.
IMPROVEMENT I'N PLOUGH-GLEVIS.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, HANEORD INGRAHAM, of Naples, in the county of Ontario, and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Plough-Olevis; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of the same, in which- Figure 1 is a top view of the clevis.
Figure 2 is a side view of the same.
My invention has reference to the construction of an elongated, slotted, reversible draught clevis, designed chiefly, though not entirely, as a one-horse side-hill plough-clevis, for the purpose of enabling the horse to walk in the furrow, as it isdiflicult for him to walk on the upper side of the furrow on side-hill without breaking into the samel.
To enable any one skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
A represents the clevis; constructed with'a straight, elongated slot, a, and with notches b b at each end. The clevisris attached horizontally and properly to the end of the plough-beam. The draught-hook or its equivalent is placed in the notch at one end of the slot. On the turning of the horse it is reversed to the notch at the other end, which changes theangle of the plough, and thus permits him to walk in the furrow.
Having thus fully described rny invention, what I claim therein as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The clevis as constructed, substantially in the manner and for the purpose as herein set forth.
HANFORD INGRAHAM.
