Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LEOPOLD HERRMAN, OF YORK, N. Y.
BRUSH-HEAD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 672,902, Adated .April 30, 191. Application filed December 31, 1900. Serial No. 41,586. (No model.)
To a/ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEOPOLD HERRMAN, a
` citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brush-Heads, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to brush-heads, and has for its object to produce a brush-head which will remain in theA position into which it has been adjusted.
To these ends my invention consists in the construction hereinafter set forth and claimed. K
ln the accompanying drawings I have shown, by way of illustration, a brush-head embodying my invention.
In the drawings, Figure l is a broken-away elevation of a brush-head embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a section on lines 2 2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a similar section of a modiication, and Fig. 4 is a plan view of the brush-head.
In the drawings, a represents a wooden brush-head, which is recessed at b for the reception of a swinging block c or its equivalent. This swinging block c is shown in the present instance as a cylinder mounted on trunnions d, resting in screw-eyes e, set in the brush-head. The swinging block c is apertured laterally with a screw-threaded aperture which receives the screw-threaded end f of the brush-handle g.
The end of the brush-handle is provided with a pin h, which when the brush-handle is screwed Iirmly into the swinging block will make contact with the Wall of the recess b, as shown in Fig. 2, or, as shown in Fig. 3, the recess may be lined with a recessed or perforated plate t', into which recesses or perforatons the pin h on the brush-handle g will enter. It will be obvious that when it is desired to adjust the handle at a dilerent angle to the brush-head the handle may be unscrewed to remove the pin h from engagement with the inner face of the recess, and the handle thereupon swung to the desired position and mounted in place by being screwed down again, whereby the pin h will lock -the same firmly to the brushhead.
Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s
In combination, a recessed brush head, eyes e at each side thereof, a block recessed for the passage of a brush-handle carried on pivots in the eyes, and a handle passing through the block and provided with a brushhead-engaging pin or point h, substantially as described.
LEOPOLD HERRMAN.
