To all wlmm it may concern.-
Ie it k no'wn thatLLIoNELWRIGHARDSON, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at Roscoe, in the county of Winnebago and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful.
-ter from the mop.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is an endview of'iny improved mop.- wringer with the parts in their normal position. Fig. 2 is a side elevation. Fig. 3 is an end elevation showing the parts in the position they occupywhen the mop is being wrung. -f A A standard E is supported upon legs C and hns a vertical opening, within which is located n guidil I), adapted to Inovein a vertical direction. To the upper end of this guide are pivotnlly connected two jaws A by the bolt a.
The lower ends of the jaws are pivotally connet-ted with the legs c of the standard by links D in such a manner that the links cross each other, andas the guide D is moved downward the links will cause the lower ends of the jaws to spread and their upper ends to close, when these parts will assume the position shown at Fig. 3. The upper ends of the jaws A are provided with fingers, forming a receptacle, within which is placed the mop.
The lower vend of the guide E has a crossba'r G connected thereto, and the ends of this cross-bar are turned down, forming ears, and nre perforated.4
A spring F is coiled around a pin ysupported by the ears of the cross-bar G. The ends of the spring are formed with eyes d, into which are hooked links 1I, having their 'ends located in recesses c, formed in the legs of the standard.
Fig. 1 shows the wringer in its normal posi- 45 ltion, and vit is designed to be placed in a pail vor other receptacle holding water.
Thek mop is placed within the receptacle formed by the jaws A, and a downward pressure on the mop-handle will force the recep- 5o tacle downward, and by reason of ,the link connection between the' jaws and the legs of the stendardi-he jaws will be forced' toward 'each other, thereby expellingthe water from the mop, and the spaces between the`fngers of. the receptacle allow the water to run into the pail within which the wringer is placed.
'In lifting the mop from the receptacle the spring connection between the guide and standard will raise the guide and through the 6o link connection 'will spread the jaws into their normal position, as shown at Fig. l.
l claim as my inventionl. In a Inop-wringer, the combination ofa. support, a guide supported thereby, a pair of jaws supported by the guide forming a receptacle to receive a mop, and means forming a' connection between the jaws and support whereby the downward movement of the mop located between the jaws will cause the jaws 7o to press against it.
2. In a mop-wringer, the combination of a. support, a guide supported thereby, a pair of jaws pivote-illy supported by the guide, links connecting the jaws and support, andaspriug connection between the guide and support, y
3. ln a mop-wringer, the combination of a support, a guide movable in the support, a pair of jaws pivotally supported by the guide, links connecting the jaws and support, and 8o crossing-each other and a spring connection between the guide and support..
