TO ALL WIIOM IT MAY CONCERN;
Be it known that I, JACOB HOERT, of the city, county, and Stn-te of New York, have invented n new and usefulimprovement in Folding-Bedsteads; nud I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exct description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the nrt to ineke and use the seme, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, in which drawing- Figure 1 represents n plan or top View of this invention.
`Figure 2 is a, longitudinal vertical section ofthe sume, showing the bedsteful unfolded in black outlines and folded in red outlines'.
Similar letters indicate corresponding parts.
This invention relates to e bedsteud in which a flexible bottom is secured by loops and lacing-cords, and the freine of which is composed of four middle legs which connect by parallel hinged bars with the outer legs, in combination with :t heed and foot-piece, in such e innnni-.r,thnt, by unfolding the bedstend, the outer legs are brought in n position parallel to thel middle or main legs,.being retuined by the parallel bars, and when the fra-me or bedstueed. is folded, the outer legs, in combination with the lower set of parallel bers, form togglebroces, whereby the frume is securelyT retained in its folded position.
A represents n piece of canvas, which is secured to the frnine B of the bedstead by means of loops and lacing-cords, as clearly shown in g. 1 of the drawing, so as to form n flexible bed-bottom. The frame B is composed of three sections, viz, two end sections, which are supported by hinged legs, D, und from the outer ends of which rise the head and foot-pieces, :1nd the middle section, which is supported by the legs E, and to which the end sections are connected by pivots, a. The legs D and E nre also connected by bars, II, which are connected to said legs by pivots, b c, and which, when the bedstend is unfolded, nre parallel to the side slats of the. end sections of the frame, its clearly shown in Iig. 2 of the drawing. Then the bedstead is folded, the end sections of the freine occupy the position shown in red outlines in tig. 2, and the bers I-I, -togethe:` with the legs D, form the toggle-braces which prevent the spontaneous unfolding of the bedstend.
What I claim as new, und desire to secure by Letters Potent, is
rlhe arrangement and combination of the toggle-braces II D, legs E, und frame B with the exible bottom A, constructed and operating substantially as and for the purpose described.
JA COB HOERT.
