ALL WHoM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, ROBERT D. GREEN, of Columbia, in the county of' Boone, in tlleSt-ate' of Missouri, ,have invented a newv and usef'ulrGrate;v and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, elear, `and exact desoription of the Construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, making a part of this specification', in whichv lLetters 'A A'A A represent double posts; B B are the bars of gate; O C are the wheels working in the lowerv bar B; D D are track-cleaners screwed or attached to bottom of the same bar; E E areidouble guard posts tdkeep the gate in its right place on opening; F F are the track-planks on which the gate rolls or opens on each way; G is the fastening pin which rests in holes at top of gate; His a square piece of timber sunk in the 'ground between posts A A A A, but not attached in any way to them, but forming-asolidfoundation for gate to rest and roll on; the long ends of bars B B to form space for small stock.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The solid bed-sill or track-10g, laid in the ground and detached from thegate post, and on which the gate rests; plain on upper surface, with groove or rail, as denoted by letter H; also p in fastener at top o` post as shown by letter Gf; also the t'rackclea'ners marked D D, fastened to -under part of bottom rail of the'gate in front of each wheel, and designed, as the gate moves," to remove from track all obstructions to the wheels C C; also guide posts E E, used to prevent the gate from running oil` the track when open. l
I also claim, in combination with the poets of the main gate, represented by letters H, G, D D, C C, E E, Letters Patent for extended top and bottom rails or slats, to` be used at pleasure in forming a gap, by moving the gate forward on the wheels C C, s-o that the gap thus formed"\vil1 admit the passage of small stock, and at the Sametime exclude large stock.
