(Application filed m 7, 1899.)
(N0 Model.)
' UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL J. OOX, OF LIMA, OHIO.
ADJUSTABLE WINDOW-SHADE HANGER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 642,815, dated February 6, 1900.
Application filed July 7, 1899- Serial No. 723.112. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUELJ COX, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lima, in the county of Allen and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable "Window-Shade Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in adjustable window-shade hangers; and one object of my invention is the provision of a hanger which will allow the shade to be held at any adjustment with relation to the window-sash.
Another object of my invention is the provision of an efficient and thoroughly practical means whereby the shade and hanger are adjusted and which is very simple, durable, and inexpensive.
To attain the desired objects, the invention consist-s of an adjustable window-shade hanger embodying novel features of construction and combination of parts, substantially as disclosed herein.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a window and sash with my invention in operation thereon, and Fig. 2 is an enlarged plan View of the upper member of my invention.
In the drawings, A designates one section of the upper member, which is secured to the window-casing by any well-known means, such as screws, and B the other section, the section A being provided with the bent end 0, in whose loop is journaled the pulley D, and the section B being provided with a bent end E, which is out of line with the bent end 0, and secured to the section B and adapted to divide the loop formed by the bent end is the plate or division-Wall F, said divisionwall being held in place by means of the lip G and the axles H and H, which secure the wall rigidly in place. J ournaled upon theaxle H is the outer pulley J, and upon the axle H, upon either side of the division-Wall, are journaled the pulleys K and K. Upon the inner ends of each section are rigidly secured the bands L, which are adapted to brace the sections and hold them together at any adj ust screw P the section can be held rigidly at any desired adjustment.
Secured in the openings Q in the sections M are the ends of the cord B, one portion of which passes upward from one opening over the pulley D and the pulley K, while the other portion of the cord passes over the pulley J and over around the pulley K, this cord then being attached to a pull-cord S, which may employ any fastening means to hold the lower member at its proper height.
From this description it will be seen that I provide an adjustable window-shade hanger which is adjustable to any-width window and which may be raised or lowered to accommodate any length of window-frame, thus producing a simple, durable, and cheap article of this character.
I claim- The herein-described window-shade hanger, comprising the upper member made in two sections and adj ustably held together, pulleycasings formed by the bent ends of said sections, one end having a division-wall located between the bent end and body of the member, two pulleys journaled in the space between the body and wall and one pulley journaled in the space between the bent end and the wall, and a shade-oarrying member adjustably supported by means of said pulleys and the upper member. I
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
SAMUEL J. COX.
