NITnn STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DAVID FOREMAN, OF STROUT, ILLINOIS.l
TRACEBUCKLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 630,878, dated August 15, 1899'.
Application filed May 2,1899. Serial No. 715,388. (No model.)
T0 all wiz/0m t may concern:
Beit known that I, DAVID FOREMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Strout., in the county of Pike and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hame-Tug Buckles; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to harness, and more particularly to the haine-tug buckle; and the object is to simplify and improve the construction and increase the life and durability of the same.
To this end the invention consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of the device, as will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings thesame reference characters indicate the same parts of the invention.
Figure 1 is a front or plan View of my improved tug-buckle. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the same. Fig. 3 is a transverse section.
In the drawings, 1 denotes the buckle, formed with the lateral parallel lugs 2 2 to receive the removable screw-threaded bolt 3, to which the back-band strap 4 is attached.
6 6 denote oppositely-arranged lateral lugs, in which is secured the removable threaded bolt 7 to receive the belly-band S.
9 9 represent longitudinal parallel ears, in which is mounted the removable threaded bolt 10 to receive the hame-tug 12.
13 13 and 14 14 designate transverse parallel plates,whi0h connect the longitudinal parallel side pieces of the buckle, and 15 represents a central transverse bridge or brace, which also connects these side pieces, and it is provided with a transverse recess 16 to receive the yoke 17, which is removably secured therein by a'pin 1S. The opposite ends of the facility with which it can be adjusted vertically on the back-band to raise or lower the draft on the animals shoulders. Furthermore, the bolts 3 and 7 can be renewed should they wear, and thus render the buckle as good as new.
The bolts 3 and 7 are each provided with a loose sleeve 5, which takes up the wear, and thus prolongs the life of both the strap and the bolt.
The accompanying drawings show my invention in the best form now known to me; but many changes in the details vmight be made within the skill of a good mechanic without departing from the spirit of the invention as set forth in the claim hereto appended.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The buckle 1 formed with the integral lugs 2 2 and 6 6, and the ears 9 9,the screw-threaded bolts 3 7 and 10 removably secured in said lugs and ears, and comprising the oriced plates 13 and 14, and the recessed bridge 15, and the longitudinal yoke 17 removably secured in said bridge and formed with the integral pins 19 19 extending through said oriced plates, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
DAVID FOREMAN.
