IMPROVEMENT IN BRlDLE-BlTSa Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 150,488, dated May 5:, 1874; application filed December 6, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
. Be it known that I, ANDREW J. SLAUGH- TER, of ()kolona, Chickasaw county, Mississippi, have invented a new and Improved Bridle-Bit; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 represents a top view, and Fig. 2 a side view.
My invention relates to bridle-bits, by which more lever power can be exerted on the tongue and jaw of the horse or mule. The invention relates to constructing a bridle-bit with lever, so that great pressure can be exerted on the tongue and jaw of the animal without the power on his part of evading the pressure by opening his mouth. The invention consists in making the mouth-piece with a crook, so that it will always remain on the tongue, and the upright levers of such a shape that a great advantage of leverage is secured.
In the drawing, A represents the mouthpiece, provided with the usual crook B. O are the levers which are firmly applied to the ends straps.
. Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is- The combination 'with bit A B, of levers constructed with the cheek-strap, slot 1), and the set out I), arranged as and for the purpose described.
