NiTE STATES LATENT FFICE.
HEINRICH CAROLI, OF LAHR, GERMANY.
BELT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 604,298, dated May 17, 1898.
Application filed September 3, 1896. Serial No. 604,732. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HEINRICH CAROLI, a subject of the German Emperor, and a resident of Lahr, Baden, in the Empire of Germany, have invented a certain new and useful Improved Waistband, of which the following is a specification.
Existing waistbands are either buckled or girded round the whole body, which renders it more difficult to put the waistband on and prevents the proper fitting thereof. These inconveniences are avoided by the present improvement.
In the annexed drawing the improved construction is shown.
The principal portion of the waistband (denoted by the letter a) is made of cloth in two parts, molded, as far as possible, to the form of the human bodythat is to say, each part is molded or shaped to one-half of the body about the waist or loins. These parts are attached to each other at the front by an adjustable lacing or by an insertion of elastic fabric, forming a connecting-piece, or by both the lacing and the elastic fabric. At the back the two parts are not attached to each other, but are secured by means of the girths, which secure the waistband in the manner hereinafter described.
The fitting of-the band is obtained on one side by means of two girths cZ, reaching from the back forward and carrying a metal loop 70, said girths ending in one single girth d, which can be fixed ona buckle f, conveniently fixed by means of an elastic piece 6. On the other side a girth g, which is sewed at it upon the waistband, is drawn through the metal loop 70, provided conveniently with a roll 1' and is fixed equally by means of a buckle Z.
The buckle Z can conveniently be fixed on the waistband by an elastic piece m. By this arrangement of the girths the band can be easily put on and an exact fitting of the band to the body obtained, because by the girth d, as well as the girth g, it is possible by drawing on them to narrow the band. Besides, by pulling on one side the corresponding part of the body can be bandaged in a stronger manner.
I claim as my invention-- 1. The combination of a belt a, two buckles f, Z, secured upon said belt, a strap 9 extending from one end of said belt and adapted to be secured by buckle Z, a bipartite strap (1 extending from the other end of said belt and united at d to be secured by buckle f and an independent wire bow 7c having eyes for the passage of the parts of strap (Z and having a bar midway of said eyes adapted to lie in the bight of strap g.
2. The combination of belt a formed of two parts, each having at one end lace-holes, laces for attaching said parts by means of said laceholes, buckles f, Z, secured respectively upon the two parts of said belt, a strap 9 extending from one end of the belt, a bipartite strap d extending from the other end of said belt, and a wire bowk having eyes for the passage of the parts of strap (1 and having a bar midway of said eyes adapted to lie in the bight of strap g, said straps (Z and g being adapted to be secured by the buckles f and Z respectively.
In witness whereof I have signed this specification in presence of two witnesses.
HEINRICH GAROLI.
