To on whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE E. ZELTMAOHER, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Belts, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to an improved belt for mens wear, which is provided on its inner face with an auxiliary elastic strap having fastening devices at its ends for attachment to the waistband of the trousers at the sides thereof, so as to permit the drawing in of the waistband and produce a tight fit of the trousers without requiring the belt to be buckled too tight for comfort.

My invention consists of a belt for mens wear, which is provided at its rear part on its nner face with an auxiliary elastic strap hav- 1ng loops at the ends which are applied to the side-buttons at the waistband of the trousers,

said auxiliary strap producing the tightening of the waistband,while the belt extends loosely around the same, is buckled at the front-and serves as an ornamental covering for the waistband and itsbuttons.

In the accompanying drawings Figure 1, represents a perspective view of my improved belt. Fig. 2, is also a perspective view of a pair of trousers, shown with my improved belt attached thereto. Fig. 3, isa top-view of Fig. 2, drawn on a larger scale, and Fig. 4, is a detail of one of the loops attached to the end of the auxiliary tightening strap of the belt.

Referring to the drawings A represents a belt for mens wear, which belt is made of leatheror other suitable material and provided at the front part with a buckle B or other suitable fastening device. To the inner surface of the rear-part of the belt is applied a transverse loop a through which is passed an auxiliary elastic strap 0, which is made of sufficient length so as to extend from one of the suspender-buttons at one side of the waistband across the back of the trousers to the button at the other side of the waistband, as shown clearly in Figs. 2 and 3. The auxiliary 5 strap 0 is provided at its ends with wire-loops or links 0' or with buttonholes or any other w strap exerts the required tension on the waistband of the trousers, so that the belt is only used as an ornamental covering of the waistband and its buttons.

As it is not necessary to tighten the belt very closely around the waistband, the wearing of the belt is rendered easy and comfortable.

Another advantage of the auxiliary strap 0 is that the belt can remain on the trousers when unbuckling the same, owing to the con- 7 nection of the strap with the waistband, so that the belt can be quickly replaced in position for use whenever required.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The combination of a belt, a fastening device for the ends thereof, an auxiliary elastic strap attached centrally to the rear portion of said belt, and provided at its ends with means for engaging the bandof the trousers at the sides thereof, substantially as described.

2. The combination of a belt provided with a loop on its inner face at its rear part, a fastening device for the ends of said belt, and an auxiliary elastic strap passed loosely through said loop and provided at its free ends with means for engaging the band of the trousers at the sides thereof, substantially as described.
