CUFF-BUTTON.
SPEGIFIOATION forming' part of Letters Patent No. 598,643, dated February 8, 1898.
Application filed May 28, 1897.
To ctZZ wwm it mety concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE L. RAWDON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improveinents in Cliff-Buttons, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to cuff-buttons and it consists of a strip of spring metal bent at its middle at an angle somewhat less than forty-five degrees and designed to fit on the outside of the two adjacent sides of the cuff and provided with plates on the inside faces for insertion in the buttonholes of the cuff, substantially as hereinafter described, and
In the acoompanying drawings, Figure l represents a cuft' having my new button attached. Fig. 2 is a perspective View of the new cuff-button. Fig. 3 is a side View of the button, showing the attaching-plates as having a hook and eye. Fig. 4 is a similar View minus the hook and eye.
A represents a fiat strip of spring metal Serial No. 638,661. (No model.)
bent at its middle at an angle somewhat less than forty-five degrees, or triangular in form, adapted to lie on the outside of a cuff. B B are plates attached to the inside faces of the said strip A, adapted for insertion in the buttonholes of the cuff. These plates may have curved outer edges, and the inner edges forlned at an angle tothe plates, so that said edges lie against the ends of the buttonholes. As seen in Fig. 3, the point of one of the plates has a small hook O, and in the point of the other plate is made a small hole D, by means of which the plates may be hooked together. Having described my invention, what I claim is- The triangular cuff-button consisting of the bent yielding piece A and the plates B B on the inside faces of said piece A for insertion in the buttonholes of ouffs, substantially as described. z
