SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 577,939, dated March 2, 1897.

Be it known that I, HARM AHLRIcHs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Petersburg, in the county of Menard and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains tolmake and use the same.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in bottles; and it has for its objects, among others, to provide a sim- 'ple and cheap bottle so constructed that it can be used but once. It is so constructed that after one cork has been withdrawn sufficiently to allow of the removal of the contents of the bottle a new cork may be inserted through the side entrance, but cannot be withdrawn to permit of the discharge of the contents.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will hereinafter appear, and the novel features thereof will be specifically defined by the appended claims.

The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this specification, and in which- A Figure l is a vertical section through a bottle constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a cross-section through the neck. f

Referring non7 to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates the bottle, and B its neck. This neck is formed with a cap O, through which is made a special or small hole c for the insertion of a corkscrew when it is desired to remove the cork from the lower end of the neck. This neck above its lower end is formed interiorly with the pins, prongs, or projections I).

E is a side chamber formed upon the side of the neck and having at its lower end a side opening F, which affords communication between the said chamber and the neck proper of the bottle.

G is a slide mounted for vertical movement and adapted to close the side opening in the side chamber when desired.

In practice the cork H is inserted through the opening in the upper end of the side chamber E and forced down and then through the but when it reaches the prongs in the neck it will be there held by them. The liquid passes through the side opening into the side chamber and thence out through the opening at the upper end thereof. Although a new cork can be inserted it cannot be withdrawn, as the first cork, being held within the neck of the bottle by the prongs, prevents its being reached by a corkscrew.

Modifications in detail may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages.

What is claimed as new is 1. A bottle formed with a neck having a cap with a small opening for the insertion of a corkscrew, and with a chamber by the side of said neck with an opening affording communication between the chamber and the neck at the bottom of the former, substantially as herein shown and described.

2. A bottle formed with a chamber by the side of its neck, with an opening affording communication between the chamber and neck near the lower end of the former, said neck being formed with interior prongs, as set forth.

3. The combination with a bottle having a neck and a side chamber, the neck formed with prongs upon its inner wall and the chamber having a side opening near its lower end, of a cork inserted through the chamber and side opening into the neck, and a cap to the neck formed with an openin g for the insertion of a corkscrew, as set forth.

4. The combination with a bottle having a neck and side chamber with side opening near its lower end, of a slide adapted to close said opening, as set forth.
