Description
' UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICEo IMPROVED REVOLVING DESK.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N o. 55,492, dated June 12, T866.
To all whom it may concern.:
Be it known that I, CHARLES HOPE, of Springield, Hampden county, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have invented a new and Improved Desk; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of' reference marked thereon.
In the drawings, Figure l is a side view of my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same.
The nature of this invention consists of a desk of polygonal shape, arranged so as to revolve on a central pivot, A, and having above it a series of pigeon-holes, book-rack, 85o.; also arranged so as to revolve on the saine pivot,
, as I will hereinafter more fully describe.
In construction 1t consists of a standard, B, supporting the polygonal desk C, which turns on the pivot A, forming a part of the base-piece or standard B.
This desk is formed of octagonal shape in this instance, and each side in previded with a drawer, and above thisl a set ot' pigeon-holes, &c.,vto each desk, or rather, section, all so arranged that they may be easily turned on the pivot A.
The object of this arrangement is to enable the person .using the desk to have easy access to any drawer or other part of the desk Without moving from his seat, by simply turning the desk or the other parts on the pivot, as before mentioned.
In this Way it will be seen that in a simple manner I obtain a neat, compact desk, at which the books a-nd papers of a large and varied business may be kept, and all be, with a slight movement, easily accessible.
Now, having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The revolving. desk herein described, constructed with thestandard B, supporting and forming a pivot for the part A, and having these and the other parts arranged substantially as shown and described.
CHARLES HOPE.
Witnesses J. B. GARDINER, J. E. FULLER.
