SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 518,203, dated April lo, 1894.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, J OHN ZWEIG, of Bellaire, county of Belmont, State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Miners Flask, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

The object of my invention is to produce an improved flask for miners use, by which his lamp, and wick, matches, and oil enough for an entire days comsumption, may be conveniently carried about his person.

In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a side elevation of my flask. Fig. 2 is an end elevation. tudinal section. Fig. 4 is a top plan view thereof, with the lid removed.

Referring to the figures on the drawings: 1 indicates a flask preferably oval in horizontal cross section, as illustrated. It is preferably made of tin and is provided with aremovable cap or cover 2.

3 indicates an inner wall or partition, clearly shown in Figs. 3 and at of the drawings. It is located in its horizontal part at a sufficient distance from the top of the flask to accommodate a lamp and extends obliquely upward and thence horizontally across the top of the flask to define the oilcompartment. Upon its upper horizontal part is fastened a nipple 4 preferably, provided with a screw cap 5 for conveying the contents of the oil compartment. The cover 2 is provided at one end with a circular opening 6 closely fitting to the outside of the screw cap, the design being to permit, when in place, the removal of the screw cap without disturbing the cover.

The lamp 8, as will be observed by reference to Fig. 3, is in general outline wedgeshaped, its contour being defined by a spout that I have designed my flask. For this pur I Fig. 3 is a central vertical longi-- pose, I provide a false partition" 7 preferably vertical and located at such a distance from the oblique part of the partition 3 as to permit the introduction of the lamp, as shown in Fig. 4. The incline of the oblique portion of the'partition 3 is also such that when the lamp is set into the receptacle defined for it by the partitions 7 and 3 it ,will be wedged firmly in position and will be securely held therein by the cover 2.

By referenceto Fig. 3 it will appear that it is not necessary that the lamp should reach entirely to the bottom, but that some play should be allowed it in order that it may be pressed more conveniently into place.

In a flask, the combination of an interior partition composed of two horizontal sections in different planes, and an intermediate oblique section, of a vertical notched partition above the lower and a nipple upon the upper horizontal section, a cap for said nip- 7 ple, and a cover provided with an aperture adapted to receive said nipple, substantially as specified.
