DARNING-LAST..

- Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 51,047, dated November 21, 1865.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, DELTA E. HOLDEN, of the city of Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and the State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Darning-Lasts for Mending Hose; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure lis a perspective view 5 Fig. 2, a horizontal front View, and Fig. 3 a horizontal side view. The two last are also sectional views.

The last is made of glass or any other material the surface of which is suflicientlyhard and smooth. It is of an oval form, with two sides flattened, and of suitable size to t the di'erent parts of a stocking.

I do not limit myself to any definite dimensions; but those which I'have used and find most practicable are three inches long, two and onefourth inches Wide, and one and one-eighth inch thick.

The construction of a darning-last when made of a flattened oval form and with hard and smooth surfaces,for thepurpose andin the manner substantially as described, as a new article of manufacture.
