Description
(NoModeL) G. A. TRIPP.
BADGE. 70 No. 471,039. Patented Mar. 15, 1892.
7.711 TEE-7L WITNESSES. I IIVVEA/TOR ATTORNEYS NITED STATES CHARLES A. TRIPP, OF BRATTLEBOROUGH, VERMONT.
BADGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 471,039, dated March 15, 1892.
Application filed June 1, 1891. Serial No. 394,659. (No model.)
To all whom #7771011] concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES A. TRIPP, of Brattleborough, in the county of lVindham and State of Vermont, have invented a new and Improved Badge, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to improvements in ornamental badges or pins, such as are usuilly worn upon the clothing of a person; and the object of my invention is to produce a simple and secure fastening for the badge, which will enable it to be easily attached to the clothing, which will hold it so that it cannot accidentally become detached, and which will also hold the badge upon the clothing in such a position that it will be displayed to advantage.
To this end my invention consists in a badge constructed substantially as hereinafter described and claimed.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar figures of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure 1 is a front view of abadge embodying my invention, showing the same attached to a piece of cloth. Fig. 2 is a rear view of the same, and Fig. 3 is a vertical section of the same.
In the drawings, the badge represents an Odd Fellows badge, it being composed of three links; but any other badge may be made and provided with the fastening which constitutes my invention. One end of the badge 10 terminates in a rearwardly-extending wire-12, which ends in a spiral 13, the free end of which is bent slightly outward and is pointed,
as shown at 14. The opposite end of the In the drawings the hook is shown at theupper end and the spiral at the lower end of the badge; but it is obvious that this arrangement may be reversed and that the hook and spiral may be secured to opposite ends of any kind of a badge.
Having thus described my invention, 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As an improved article of manufacture, a badge provided with a fastening consisting of a spiral and a hook projecting from the back of the badge at opposite ends thereof, as set forth.
CHARLES A. TRIPP.
