REINHOLD MAROSKE, vOF ST. LOUIS,v MISSOURI.
MITER-Box'.
SLPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 469,159, dated February 16, 1892.
Application filed August 20, 1891. Serial No. 403,249. (No model.)
To all whom t may cm1/cern.-
Be it known that I, REiNHoLD MARosKE, of the city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri7 have invented a certain new and useful Improvementin Miter-Boxes, of Which'the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
My invention relates to certain improvements in ruiter-boxes, the object being to provide a box which will be much more durable and lasting than the ordinary miterbox; and my invention consists in features of novelty hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claim.
Figure I is a side elevation of my improved box. Fig. II is a View with one side of the box removed. Fig. III is a top View. Fig. IV is a transverse section of the box, taken on line IV IV,Fig. III. Fig. V is adetailtop view of one side of the wood portion of the box, and Fig. VI is a detail longitudinal section of one side of the box.
Referring to the drawings, l represents the bot-tom of the box, and 2 the wood sides, composed of a number of pieces or sections 3.
et represents metallic reinforcing-strips secured to the bottom 1 by means of screws or otherwise, and to which the sectional sides are held by means of screws G, fitting in slots 7 inthe strips 4.
8 represents the cuts or openings in the Sides of the box, in which the saw fits when the box is being used. The metallic strips serve to protect the wooden sides both from being split by the careless use and handling of the box and also, to a certain extent, from the improper or careless use of the saw, and as the wood sides become Worn at the cuts or openings 8 they may be set together and adjusted through means of the screws 6, and thus openings of the proper size can always be maintained, and should the sides become Warped or swollen so as to close or partially close the openings 8 the sections can be adjusted in like manner by the screws G being moved in the slots 7.
I claim as my invention-- In a miter-box, the combination of the bottom, the 'sectional Wood sides, and the reinforcing-strips secured to the bottom and to which the sectional sides are secured by screws fitting in slots in the strips, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
REINHOLD MAROSKE. Wit11esses:
AUG. P. KALTWASSER, PETER ZIEGLER.
