Be it known that l, POWERS 710KB, a citizen of the United States, resid ing at Muskegon, in the county of Muskegon and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Dresser and VaslrStand; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in that class of devices wherein are combined more than one article, and more particularly to wash stands or cases.

The present invention has for its objects, among others, to provide a simple, cheap, and durable device of this character which shall be neat in appearance, easily operated, and in which the movable part shall be held in either of its positions witho ut fastening means.

I provide a substantially V-shaped case carrying the wash-bowl, which case is so pivoted to the case proper that when it is out the preponderance of the weight will be changed so that the movable case with the bowl will be held in its extended position simply by its weight, and when the case is closed the weight will be again changed so that the preponderance will be upon the other side of the vertical line and the case held in its closed position.

Flexible connections are provided between the tank and the bowl and between the bowl and the receptacle designed to receive the water therefrom. These connections are permanent and do not need to be touched in the movements of the parts.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will hereinafter appear, and the novel features thereof will be specifically defined by the appended claim.

The noveltyinthe present instance resides in the peculiar combinations and the construction, arrangement, and adaptation of parts, all as more fully hereinafter described, shown in the drawings, and then particularly pointed out in the claim.

The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this specification, and in which Figure 1 is a side view of myimprovement with a portion of the side of the case proper broken away, showing the movable part in its extended position. Fig. 2 is a like view with the bowl closed within the case proper.

Like letters of reference indicate like parts in both views.

Referring now to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates the outer or inclosing case, which may be of any known or approved form or design-forinstance, a dressing-case It matters not about the outer case. This may be varied in form or design and may be as ornamental as desired. It may have a door at the side, as indicated at a, or this dOOYlllELY be omitted. Upon this case, either so as to extend above the top thereof and be incased so as to represent an extension thereof, as shown, or concealed entirely within the case, is a tank B, which may be of any suitable shape and capacity, it being preferably arranged so as to be filled with water from the top, a suitable removable top or cover being provided for this purpose.

0 is the movable portion or case, which is substantially V-shaped, as shown, being hinged or pivoted at the point of the V to the outer case, shown at b, and having a top board E, which is formed with a hole in which is located the bowl F, of any approved style, and which is held therein in any suitable manner. This V-shaped case has a back board G and sides II, which are formed upon their upper edges upon the are of a circle of which the hinge or pivot of the case forms the center. These curved sides form splashers to prevent damage to the paper by the spattering of the water from the bowl, and also serve as guides for the case as it is opened and closed. The back board of the movable case may be provided with a stop, or it may be arranged to engage a depending stop, as seen at c in Fig. 1.

\Vithin the case proper is arranged a removable receptacle, as a pail I, and J is a flexible pipe connecting with the dischargeopening in the bowl and leading into the said receptacle, as shown, so as to discharge the conten is of the bowl into the receptacle when desired. The discharge-opening of the bowl is normally closed by a removable plug K, carried by a cord or chain (1, which is suitably fastened to some part, as to the top board of the movable case, as seen in Fig. 2.

L is a flexible pipe leading from the tank and passed through the back board of the movable case and connected with a faucet M, which may be of any approved or desired form. Suitable securing means are provided for holding the flexible pipe and faucet in place, as shown in Fig. 2.

The operation is apparent and will be readily understood from the foregoing description, when taken in connection with the annexed drawings. The flexible pipes at all times remain within the case out of sight and need no attention. WVhen itis desired to use the bowl, the movable case is pulled out, and when it has passed a vertical line its own weight brings it into the appropriate position, as

shown in Fig. 1, the top board being then horizontal. W hen through, the movable case is pushed back, and when it passes the vertical line the weight carries it back to its rearward position, as shown in Fig. 2, and it is there held. The water from the bowl can run out in either position of the parts.

lVhat I claim as new is-- The combination, with the outer case and the tank extended partly above and partly below the top of the case, of the substantially V-shaped movable case pivoted at its point to the bottom of the outer case, open at the inner side and arranged to be tilted to change the preponderance of weight, the bowl carried by the movable case, the flexible connection between the tank and bowl,the flexible discharge-pipe to the bowl, the faucet carried by the top of the movable case, and the back board and sides to the upper end of the movable case, with the sides formed on the arc of a circle, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
