G. CRANDELL.
Car-D001" Holder.

lit menial" ain/6,5152% N-zFEfERS, PNOTO-LITHOGRAPHER. WASHINGTON. n C.
NITED IMPROVEMENT IN HOLDERS FOR CAR-DOORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. ll 2,@52, dated April 19, 1804.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, GERMOND CRANDELL, of the city and county of Washington, in the District of Columbia, have invented a new and improved mode of holding car and other sliding doors shut and preventing their closing when open; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of refer ence marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in using the rollers or wheels upon which all sliding doors are moved to hold. thes aid door at any desirable point without the aid of any other fastening.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, 1 will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
A represents the door partly open, standing upon the track at d, supported by the wheels or rollers b b. c c 0 represent sections of the track removed or depressed in such a manner as to allow the wheels Z) b when the door is entirely closed or entirely open to drop into them, and thereby prevent its opening or closing except by the application of force, thus obviating the use of other fastenings.
The drawing represents the wheels or rollers at the bottom of the door, but this mode will apply equally well if it is desired to put them at the top. It also represents the track as raised above the threshold, but should it be desired to drop it below, forming a groove, the depressions for the wheels should be made entirely through to prevent their filling up. In some cases this may be found necessary, even with the raised tr ck.
lVhatI claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The combination of a sliding door supported on wheels or rollers, with an indentation, depression in, or removal of, the track d d at the points 0 c c, in which to admit the wheels 0 b to adjust themselves when the door is either open or closed, arranged to operate in the manner and for the purposes herein set forth.
GERMOND GRANDELL. Witnesses:
