PACKAGE FOR VACCINE-POINTS.

Be it known that I, HENRY T. STANTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Frankfort, in the county of Franklin and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Medical Protective Packages; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to articles for holding medicines and medical appliances from which it is desirable or necessary that air be excluded while stored.

Theinvention relates particularly to means for packing and storing vaccinepoints.

The object of the invention is to produce a packing or storing device for containing vaccine-points or other matter to be kept sealed, and for holding the same in such way that air shall be excluded and so that they may be moved one by one without disturbing those remaining in the package.

With these objects in view the invention resides, essentially, in a packing device comprising an outer wrapper of paper, leather, or other suitable material having a coating, preferably upon its inner face, of rubber or other suitable substance for preventing the entrance of air or moisture, a layer of paper or other suitable materialhavingfiaps therein of such size as to form receptacles for the vaccine-p oints, and a covering composed of or faced with a material which will exclude air or moisture, the latter being sealed or otherwise attached after the points have been introduced and the top layer having indicated thereon the proper places to cut in order to remove the points.

I have illustrated the invention in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents aperspective view of a completed package constructed in accordance with my invention. Figs. 2 and 3 represent, respectively, the outer covering having the lining of a substance capable of preventing the entrance, and the second or intermediate layer having the openings and flaps for retainin g the Vaccine=points In the drawings, A represents a piece of paper, leather, or other suitable material, which may be made in the shape of a card or, as illustrated in the drawings, in the shape of a book. The inner face of this piece is covered with a suitable substancesuch as rubber in thin sheet-swhich will exclude air and moisture.

B represents a layer of paper or other suitable substance having cut therein any suitable number of flaps 1), between one face of which and the outer rubber facing are confined the vaccine-points to be packed.

0 represents a covering designed to be placed over the portion B and to be secured thereto by mucilage, glue, or any other suitable means of fastening which will form airtight and moisture-proof at each slit forming the flap, in order that the vaccine-points may be each confined in a separate chamber impervious to damaging influences. The covering O has marked 011 the face thereof lines 0, indicating the point at which an incision should be made to reach the vaccine-point contained beneath it. This maybe indicated in any suitable way, as by printing lines or directions on the cover.

Upon the outside of the portion A may be printed any suitable directions for opening or for using the points, and also the date at which the points were charged; also, the out side may be used for advertising purposes, when desired. There may be an extension of the outer covering at each end of one side and at the free margin of the same side forming flaps to lap over the other side and be sealed down.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I'claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A device for containing vaccine-points, the outer cover provided with an air-tight and moisture-proof facing, an inner portion having slits or flaps forming receptacles for the points, and a covering having an impervious coating-such as rubber-substantially as described.

2. A device for containing vaccine-points and adapting them to be removed independently, consisting of the outer portion or covering, the inner lining of rubber or othersuit-' IO three portions being sealed or otherwise secured together in such manner that air and moisture are excluded, substantially as described.
