The invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompany- 2o ing drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a fire-kindler constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a central 2 5 vertical sectional view.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, A designates a metallic casing or box composed ,of the bottom a, which is preferably a disk, but may be square, triangular, or any other desirable shape, and the sides, which rise from the base, and are preferably curved, and a perforated top or follower a suitably secured within the sides a. The casing or box is filled with asbestus, brick, or some other indestructible substance that will absorb a liquid hydrocarbon, and then the perforated top is secured in place and the deviceisready for use; but in order to prevent the wood lying too close to the perforations and chok- 4o ing the fire vertical flanges B are provided.
The vertical flanges-B are secured to the per- Serial No. 322,575. (No model.)
this invention are, simple and cheap in construction and require very little oil to start a fire; that they can be used with perfect safety, and can be allowed to remain in the stove until the fire has gone out and it is necessary to refill them.

2. A fire-kindler comprising the box or casing, the filling of asbestus or similar indestructible material, the perforated top or follower, the central tube formed integral with the top or follower and provided with openings in its lower end, and the vertical flangesextending outwardly from the tube, substantially as described.
