UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE GEORGE J. FROST, OF TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE- HALF TO GEORGE DIOKSON, OF SAME PLACE.
WINDOW-BLIND FASTEN ER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 417,240, dated December 17, 1889.
(No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE JAMES FRosT, janitor, of the city of Toronto, in the county of York, in the Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented a certain new and Improved Window-Blind Fastener, of which the following is a specification.
The object of the invention is to providea simple, cheaply-made, and easily-applied fastener for securing a window-blind to its roller; and it consists, essentially, of a spring-metal clasp bent to conform to and spring onto a shade-roller, the said clasp having legs with spike-shaped toes designed to clasp and pierce the roller in such a manner as to firmly grasp and hold the blind in position.
Figure 1 is a view showing my blind-fastener in position on the roller. Fig. 2 is a detail of the fastener.
It Will be observed on reference to the drawings that my fastener is formed out of a piece of spring-wire, the said wire being folded in the center and the folded portion bent, as indicated, to form a spring-clasp A, which fits over and clasps the roller B, as indicated. The ends 0 of the wire extend at right angles from the fold, forming legs with spike-shaped toes D, as shown, which spikeshaped toes may be readily pressed into the Wooden roller B.
be necessary to straighten or adjust the blind upon the roller.
What I claim as my invention is As an improved article of manufacture, a clasp formed of a single piece of spring material folded near the center and bent to form a spring-clasp A, and the ends of the material extended at right angles to the clasp A in opposite directions therefrom and formed with spike'shaped toes D, substantially as shown and described, and for the purpose specified.
Toronto, April 13, 1889.
GEORGE J. FROST.
In presence of CHARLES C. BALDWIN,
W. G. MOMILLAN.
